Old Bridge schedules
summer concert series

The Old Bridge Cultural Arts Committee is presenting a free township summer concert series at Geick Park, Route 516. All concerts are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. In the event of rain, shows will be moved to the Old Bridge Ice Arena, Route 516.

The remaining concert schedule is as follows:

• July 24 — Fresh Horses, a tribute to Garth Brooks;

• Aug. 7 — Britney One More Time and Backstreet’s Back, a tribute to Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys;

• Aug. 14 — Stickey Fingers, a tribute to the Rolling Stones;

• Aug. 21 — Beatlemania, a tribute to the Beatles.

Audience members should bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase; concertgoers may choose to bring their own. Children are welcome and may play throughout the park. Pets, alcohol and drugs will not be permitted.

Geick Park is wheelchair accessible from the Camp Robin and Old Bridge High School east campus entrances.

Admission to all shows is free of charge, but donations are welcome.

Old Bridge Elks sets

barbecue, pig roast

Old Bridge Elks No. 2229, Amboy Road, will hold two upcoming events.

A Saturday night barbecue is planned for 6-9 p.m. on July 27 at the lodge. The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and corn on the cob. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children. For tickets, call Rich Williams at (732) 251-6633.

The Elks Convention Committee will sponsor a pig roast from 2-6 p.m. on Aug. 31. Menu will feature roast pig, burgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, chicken, corn on the cob, salads and watermelon. There will be games and entertainment. Cost is $18 for adults, $7 for children age 12 and under. For tickets, call Mike Donahue at (732) 727-5315 or Rich Williams at (732) 251-6633.

Concert to feature band of Israeli youths

The Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County is sponsoring an Israel Solidarity concert with the Youth Wind Band of Arad on July 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Nicholas Music Center on the campus of Douglass College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

The band is comprised of 20 Israeli teenagers, ages 14 to 19, who study music at the Music Conservatory of Arad. Also performing will be the doo-wop group, the Park Tones.

The evening will feature Israeli vendors and a visit from an officer in the Israel Defense Forces.

The band’s appearance is so-sponsored by area synagogues, Hadassah, Israel Bonds and National Council of Jewish Women.The family event is free and open to the community. For more information and to register, call (732) 432-7711 or e-mail middlesexfed@aol.com.
