Obituaries MARTHA URBANSKI SAMUEL, 84, of Sayreville died March 4 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Samuel. Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine Bauman and Linda Schafer, both of Sayreville; a sister, Wanda Katchur of Perth Amboy; a brother, Edward Urbanski of Perth Amboy; three granddaughters; and a great-grandson. A Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. on March 7 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. JOSEPH R. MONTANO, 76, of Old Bridge died Feb. 28 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Ann Steel Montano; two sons, James of Jackson and Andrew of Freehold; two daughters, Elizabeth of Cranbury and Carol Jacobs of New York City; and five grandchildren. "NETTIE" MISKIN BURKONSTOCK, 85, of Spotswood died Feb. 10 in Care One, East Brunswick. She served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Women’s Army Corps during World War II. Surviving are her husband, Joseph A. Burkonstock, and a nephew, Harry Trenery of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge. GEORGE BARKAUSKAS, 60, of Old Bridge, formerly of East Brunswick, died March 3 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Violet Varjassy Barkauskas; a son, David of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Sharon Stefanoni of Beach Haven Park; four sisters, Priscilla McConnell, Joan Cerep and Patricia Corcoran, all of Scranton, Pa., and Elizabeth Gedrimas of Lyndhurst; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass is planned for 10 a.m. on March 7 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Private cremation will follow. Her husband, Robert J. Halloran, died in 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Halloran of East Brunswick and Doreen Nelson of Cary; three sisters, Mary August, Joan Gyuriska and Carol Grega, all of Dunmore, Pa.; and three grandchildren. Her husband, William A. Scully, died in 1993. "JACK" CONOVER, 61, of Spotswood, formerly of Old Bridge and Sayreville, died March 1 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Carmen L. Conover, died in 1991. Surviving are a son, Christopher Conover of Ambridge, Pa., and a daughter, Dawn Brunotte of Brick. Services were under the direction of Eckman Funeral Home, Spotswood. GLADYS V. TICE MARCZAK CREED, 79, of South Amboy died Feb. 19 in Carriage House Manor, Morgan section of Sayreville. Her first husband, Adrian Marczak, died in 1954; her second husband, Francis C. Creed, died in 1966; and a son, Jan Michael Marczak, died in 1990. Surviving are a son, Albert Marczak of South Amboy; two daughters, Patricia Ploskon of South River and Catherine Sydlosky of South Amboy; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. NORMAN RZIGALINSKI, 85, of Sayreville died Feb. 25 in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. She was the owner and operator of Norman’s Tavern, Sayreville. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Rzigalinski, and by a daughter, Norma E. Zollinger. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Donald Newton of Sayreville; a son-in-law, John Zollinger, also of Sayreville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. LOLITA PRADAS SALAZAR, 71, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Feb. 26. Her husband, Tuburcio Salazar, died in 1984. Surviving are five sons, Hilario Salazar, with whom she lived, Milo, Wilfredo and Guillermo, all of the Philippines, and Rosalio of Canada; two daughters, Ligaya Mapp of Brooklyn and Anna Belen Salazar of Parlin; four sisters, Liticia Pradas, Luthgarda Rosales, Lorna Pradas, all of Canada, and Emiliana Pradas of the Philippines; three brothers, Carlito Pradas of Canada and Arnold Pradas and Bartolme Pradas, both of the Philippines; and 14 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. WILLIAM M. HAUG, 49, of South Amboy died Feb. 25 in University Hospital, Newark. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Cattano Haug; two daughters, Amy and Lindsey, both at home; his mother, Violet Glennon Haug of Archer, Fla.; a brother, James Haug, and a sister, Colleen Andersen, both of Archer. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Cremation was private. |
