Blood drives planned for

Sept. 29 in O.B., Parlin

The Blood Center of New Jersey will sponsor community blood drives on Sept. 29 from 1-6:30 p.m. at Oasis Auto Center, 3698 Route 9 south, Old Bridge, and from 4-8 p.m. at Potash Chiropractic, 811 Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years of age. There is no upper age limit for donors provided they meet health requirements. Donors should know their Social Security number and bring a signed or picture form of identification. Individuals with a fever or sore throat should wait until they are feeling better before donating. There is a 24-hour deferral for teeth cleanings and fillings.

Oct. 1 opening meeting

East Brunswick Hadassah will hold its opening meeting of the year at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 1 at the East Brunswick Jewish Center, 511 Ryders Lane.

Guest speaker Alana Tolpin Levitt, a nationally certified career counselor, will present an interactive workshop during which participants will explore their work, career choices and personal interests, skills and values in terms of self-fulfillment and life satisfaction.

Participants are invited to bring a résumé or business card, if desired.
