Pay chief what he is owed

I was shocked and disappointed by the actions of the Old Bridge Township Council at its recent meeting. It voted to table the decision to pay our new police chief, Thomas Collow, money that was due him from his contract with the township prior to his promotion.

I have only praise for my councilman, G. Kevin Calogera, and for Councilman Richard Greene and Councilwoman Lucille Panos for walking out of that meeting, causing the council to temporarily loose its quorum.

I cannot believe that the remaining members of the council would risk a lawsuit that they have no hope of winning and that would only cost us taxpayers tens of thousands of wasted dollars.

I can only hope that these councilmen will live up to their campaign promises and do the right thing for Old Bridge and its police chief.

George H. Lerner
