Remedy at hand for Krome

It is certainly understandable that residents are seeking relief to issues caused by patrons of Krome, a nightclub located off Route 35 in Sayreville. Residents of the Old Spye Road area have long complained of club patrons littering and making noise in their neighborhood, and even urinating in public.

The borough has been responsive to the residents’ calls over the years, revoking the club’s liquor license in 2000 and forcing an earlier closing time on all bars and clubs.

It appears that the real solution, however, may already be in the works, as the borough moves toward enabling a redevelopment project in the area. A developer is seeking to buy the Krome site, demolish it and build a senior community and marina on the Cheesequake Creek site. It appears that such a project, though just in its concept stages, may be an amicable solution for all sides involved.
