Obituaries Albert Bolk Sr. Mr. Bolk, 71, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Sept. 15 in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed for 23 years at Ford Motor Co., Edison. His wife, Nancy Porter Bolk, died in 2000. Surviving are three sons, Albert and Edward, both of Parlin, and Jon of South Amboy; a daughter, Elaine Crawford of Woodland; a sister, Gladys Weissling of Jacksonville, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Amelia L. Yuska Burke Mrs. Burke, 95, of the Toms River section of Dover, formerly of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge, died Sept. 13 at home. Her husband, Francis Burke, died in 1963. Surviving are a son, Charles R. Burke of Edison; a daughter, Frances V. Anthes of Toms River; two sisters, Louise Burst of Marlboro and Veronica M. Yuska of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. A Mass was offered at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
Concetta “Connie” M. Festa DePalma Mrs. DePalma, of Monroe, formerly of Old Bridge, died Sept. 15 in Cranbury Care Center, Monroe. Prior to her retirement in January, she worked for 18 years as deputy court administrator in Monroe. Surviving are her husband, Robert L. DePalma; four sons, Robert of South River, Christopher of Spotswood and Joel and Jeff, both of Monroe; her mother, Theresa Festa of East Brunswick; two sisters, Rae Amato of Glen Gardner and Theresa DeMarco of Marathon, Fla.; and two grandsons. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
Angelina Raniere Ward Mrs. Ward, 70, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Sept. 17 in Care One at East Brunswick. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a gift wrapper at Fortunoff’s, Woodbridge, for 10 years. Her husband, Ronald, died in 1985; a son, John, died in 1995; and a daughter, Mary Hinlicky, died in 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Brennan of Old Bridge and Elizabeth Elardo of Parlin; three brothers, Michael Raniere of Edison, Dominick Raniere of Perth Amboy and Tony Raniere; a sister-in-law, Joyce Cavanaugh of Spotswood; and seven grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.
John W. Dunn Mr. Dunn, 44, of Old Bridge, died Sept. 20 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. He worked for Cardinal Health Care, Edison, for the past 20 years. His father, William P., died in 1971. Surviving are his mother, Mary Hyland Dunn; two brothers, Joseph of Old Bridge and James of Keyport; and two nieces and five nephews. A Mass is planned for 10 a.m. on Sept. 23 at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
Matthew J. Jurewicz Mr. Jurewicz, 86, of South River, died Sept. 20 in Roosevelt Care Center, Edison. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed by Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 37 years. His wife, Wanda Kostrzewski Jurewicz, died in 1999; a daughter, Arlene Jurewicz, died in 1971; and a son, Ronald Jurewicz, died in 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Dolores Collett of Budd Lake; a son, Edward Jurewicz of North Brunswick; a brother, Jack Jurewicz of Aberdeen; two sisters, Ceal Naperkowski of South River and Alice Koblos of Sayreville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Sept. 23 at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick. Walter “Whitey” Pawlowski Mr. Pawlowski, 81, of South River, died Sept. 18 in Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice, Edison. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed as a chemical operator for 40 years with National Lead Industries, Sayreville. Surviving are his wife, Renata Zeh Pawlowski; two daughters, Renata Sarajew of East Brunswick and Janet Raab of South River; a son, Richard of Middletown, Del.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to Barbara E. Helen Kaminski Cerequas Mrs. Cerequas, 82, of North Brunswick, died Sept. 24 at St. Peter’s Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in Nlava, Poland, she resided in South River prior to moving to North Brunswick 20 years ago. She was employed in custodial maintenance at J&J Personal Products, North Brunswick, retiring 20 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church, South River. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and a sister, Wanda Mannino. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred Cerequas and Risa Kell, of Wilmington, N.C., and Robert and Delores Cerequas, of Melbourne, Fla.; two daughters, Virginia Reid, of South River, and Rosanne McCarthy, of North Brunswick; two sisters, Stella Resnick, of New Port Richey, Fla., and Patricia Plewa, of Old Bridge; a brothers, Stanley Kaminski, of Santa Maria, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville.
Francis “Frank” Tarallo Mr. Tarallo, 81, of South Amboy, died Sept. 14 in Roosevelt Hospital, Edison. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a brakeman with the Pennsylvania Railroad, South Amboy, where he worked for 40 years. His wife, Eileen Cunningham Tarallo, died in 1993. Surviving are a sister, Santa Maria Gawron, and her husband, Alfred, of South Amboy; and five nephews, William, Alfred Jr., John, George and Michael. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville. LeRoy W. Conway Mr. Conway, 83, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Sept. 17 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. A son, LeRoy W. Jr., died in 1965, and another son, Michael, died in 1980. Surviving are his wife, Helen Evans Conway; a son, Robert A. Conway of Sayreville; five daughters, Barbara Westervelt of East Brunswick, Arlene Thaisz and Sharon Gerity, both of Sayreville, Gail Toomey of Orlando, Fla., and Debra A. Gonnello of Jackson; a sister, Jeannie Bunell of York, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass was at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
A. Steve Ur Mr. Ur, 81, of Bridgewater, formerly of East Brunswick, died Sept. 20 in Overlook Hospital, Summit. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he owned and operated Steve Ur Draperies and Slipcovers, New Brunswick, for 40 years. Surviving are a son, Alex Ur of Bridgewater; a daughter, Diane Notaro of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Dawn Casale of Swedesboro and Debra Burrows of Mill Hall, Pa.; and three grandchildren. Evelyn Muska Oleksiak Mrs. Oleksiak, 82, of East Brunswick, died Sept. 6 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1968, she was a saleswoman with Micky Finn’s Department Store, Perth Amboy, where she worked for 20 years. Her husband, Alfred, died in 1968. Surviving are a daughter, Loreen Pulaski of East Brunswick; a brother, Michael Muska Jr. of Carteret; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hopelawn.
Henry J. Tominus Mr. Tominus, 85, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of South River, died Sept. 8 in Cranbury Center, Monroe. Prior to his retirement in 1976, he was a pipefitter with DuPont Co., Parlin, where he worked for 37 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Jennie Saluka Tominus. Surviving are a daughter, Diann Barraco of East Brunswick, and a grandson, Alan Barraco. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Barbara Lee Reiss Mrs. Reiss, 66, of Old Bridge, formerly of South River, died Sept. 17 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement three years ago, she was employed as a records keeper and secretary at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Surviving is a son, John Reiss of Chesapeake, Va. Andrew E. Petti Sr. Mr. Petti, 76, of Matawan, died Sept. 14 in Raritan Bay Hospital, Old Bridge division. He was predeceased by a son, Andrew Petti Jr., in 2003. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Orlando Petti; a son, James Petti of Matawan; two daughters, Denise White of Helmetta and Cathy Fleming of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge; two brothers, James Petti and Gerry Petti; a sister, Rosie Menture; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
