Ruth Bellante

Mrs. Bellante, 88, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, died April 7 at her daughter’s Monmouth Junction residence. Born in Sayreville, she resided in New Brunswick prior to moving to North Brunswick in 1991, and to her daughter’s house two years ago. She was a secretary at New Brunswick Police Department for 15 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to that, she worked at Arnold Constable Department Store, New Brunswick. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael S. Bellante in 1998. She is survived by a daughter, South Brunswick Deputy Mayor Carol Barrett of Monmouth Junction; a son, Michael Bellante of Reading, Pa.; a sister, Marie Schafer of Margaretville, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Long of Somerset; and three grandchildren. Entombment was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements were by The Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown.

Samuel Rashkin

Mr. Rashkin, 101, of East Brunswick, died April 5 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. His wife, Ida, died in 1999. Surviving are a son, Arnold of Fallbrook, Calif.; two daughters, Mildred Giventer of Old Bridge and Sandra Zions of Naples, Fla.; a brother, George of Middletown; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. A graveside service was held at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colonia Chapter of Deborah by calling Sal at (732) 548-3243.

Joseph Szeliga

Mr. Szeliga, 97, of Sayreville, died April 3 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement in 1973, he was employed as a leader with E.I. DuPont and Co. Photo Products Division, Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Mary Fielek Szeliga; a daughter, Joan Farley, also of Sayreville; a son, Edward Szeliga of Springfield, Va.; and two granddaughters. A service was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Evelyn DiRubbio Corrente

Mrs. Corrente, 84, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died April 7 in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Her husband, Paul, died in 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Marie Tennariello of Sag Harbor, N.Y., and Paula Farrington of Edison; a sister, Carmela “Millie” Gallagher of Parlin; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette’s Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge.

John Henry Patrick

Mr. Patrick, 79, of Old Bridge, formerly of North Brunswick, died March 25 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by two daughters, Marsha Patrick Seczney and Terry Patrick. Surviving are his wife, Carmen Patrick; three sons, James Bonanno of Brick, John Patrick of North Carolina and Daniel Patrick of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Cindy Weiler of Monroe and Margaret Bonanno of Chesterfield; three sisters, Jean Kotter, Fay Austin and Marion Heinz, all of North Brunswick; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. George’s Church, Helmetta. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

Barry Weisman

Mr. Weisman, 69, of East Brunswick, died March 29 in Mercy Hospital, Scranton, Pa. Prior to his retirement in 2000, he was a certified public accountant and owned Weisman and Co., East Brunswick, for many years. Surviving are his wife, Isabel Scher Weisman; a son, Glen Weisman of Bayonne; a daughter, Nancy Herbert of East Brunswick; two sisters, Shirley Deutsch of Roselle Park and Ruth Cutler of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Interment was in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin section of Woodbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to Springville Volunteer Fire Co., Route 29, Springville, PA 18844, or to Keystone College, One College Green, LaPlume, PA 18440-0200.

James Scully

Mr. Scully, 67, of South Amboy, died March 13 at home. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Häagen-Dazs Co., Woodbridge. Before that, he worked for National Lead Industries, Sayreville. Surviving are two brothers, William Scully of Sayreville and Richard Scully of Monroe; and three sisters, Lana Kuran of Stockton, Linda Kelly of Manchester and Laura Gillette of Monroe. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.

Christopher J. LaTorre

Mr. LaTorre, 21, of South River, died April 9 at home. He was a 2002 graduate of South River High School, where he played football and baseball for four years. He was a carpenter with Classic Creations, South River, for the past two years. Surviving are his parents, George LaTorre and Mary Pierson; nine sisters and brothers, Mary Jo Sarcone of Old Bridge, George LaTorre of Spotswood, Jennie Goodman of Willingboro, Linda Jackson, James Pierson and Elizabeth Pierson, all of Pittsfield, Mass., Joseph Pierson of Cedar Grove, and Michele Pierson and Nicole LaTorre, both of South River; his maternal grandmother, Catherine LaTorre of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge; three godchildren, Anthony and Rey Torres and Ceaira Pierson; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaTorre family.

Wanda Gardocki Vilkauskas

Mrs. Vilkauskas, 93, of Old Bridge, died April 10 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was a seamstress in South River for 10 years. Her husband, Vincent A. Vilkauskas, died in 1995. Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Edward J. Vilkauskas, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, Detroit, and Vincent J. Vilkauskas of Belfast, Pa.; a sister, Stella Wolkoski of Mount Carmel, Pa.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 10 a.m. on April 14 at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Consolation Cemetery, Mount Carmel. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church Building Fund, South River.

Martha L. Kaczmarek Jensen

Mrs. Jensen, 83, of South River, died April 9 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1979, she was employed by E.I. DuPont Photo Products, Parlin section of Sayreville, where she worked for more than 30 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Jensen; two sisters, Helen Novak and Lucille Tenneson; and four brothers, Steven, Chester, Matthew and Henry Kaczmarek. Surviving are her adopted family, Christine and Joseph Donato, Joseph Donato and Jason Donato, all of South River. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
