On Campus Theresa Johnson of Old Bridge, a junior majoring in biology at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, has been awarded an undergraduate research fellowship from the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) to be used to continue research this summer with Dr. Michael Palladino of the biology department. Palladino and Johnson are working on a project to identify how certain genes protect male reproductive organs from bacterial infections. Johnson is one of 42 students awarded undergraduate research fellowships. In addition to her research, she must give a presentation at the 2006 ASM meeting in Orlando, Fla. The ASM is a professional organization for scientists and has more than 10,000 members. Jacquelyn Buckler, daughter of Lorraine and Jim Buckler of Old Bridge, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Rider University, Lawrenceville section of Lawrence, where she recently completed her junior year majoring in psychology. She also was inducted into the National Honor Society in Psychology and serves as president of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Brian Hecht of Old Bridge was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse (N.Y.) University, where he is a senior majoring in economics and newspaper journalism.
