South River Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1451, Reid Street, will be setting for National Wrestling Superstars Wrestling Mat Madness, an evening of all-star professional wrestling set for 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 30.
The event will feature former champion Psycho Sid Vicious, Percy Pringle (formerly Paul Bearer), Luna Vachon, Short-Sleeve Samson, Nicky Oceans, Ed Kazzar, JT Highlander and others.

OLV School alumni to celebrate at reunion
Our Lady of Victories (OLV) School, Sayreville, will hold an alumni reunion from 7-11 p.m. on Nov. 4 at OLV’s Monsignor Dalton Hall, Main Street.
The event, which is open to all alumni, will feature a buffet dinner, beer, wine, soda, dessert and entertainment by a DJ. Spouses and guests are welcome.

to host Chicken Dinner
The United Methodist Women of Simpson United Methodist Church will sponsor a Barbecued Chicken Dinner fund-raiser from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the church, 2095 Route 516 at Owens Road, Old Bridge.
The menu will include chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, corn on the cob, dessert and a beverage.

Headaches to be topic at Sept. 28 presentation
Dr. Timothy Lenahan will offer a presentation exploring nonmedical approaches to treating headache pain at 7 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Lenahan Chiropractic, 346 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy. The event also will include a talk by Donna Lane, a certified massage therapist.
Lenahan and Lane will review some of the causes of the more common types of headaches, discuss ways to reduce headache pain and explore methods of getting rid of most headaches.

Run/walk will benefit Brain Injured Children
The borough of Sayreville will hold its third annual Hit the Bricks 5-Mile Run or Walk beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 15 at Sayreville Borough Hall, Main Street. Event-day Registration is set for 8-9:15 a.m.
The event will benefit the Sayreville Association for Brain Injured Children.
The 500-point Grand Prix, USA Track and Field (USATF)-certified course will begin in front of Borough Hall and wind through the town’s rolling hills and flats.
Entry fee is $20 for registration by Oct. 8, $18 for USATF members who register in advance, $25 for registration after Oct. 8 and on the day of the race. All runners who register in advance will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the first 200 finishers, overall winners and to winners in five age groups.

Circus to raise funds for Hemophilia Association
Phills Brothers will host a Sunshine Magic Circus fund-raiser to benefit the Hemophilia Association of New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 at East Brunswick High School, Cranbury Road.
Two children will be admitted free of charge with one paid adult. Tickets for adults cost $5 each and will be available at the door.

E. Brunswick cultural festival scheduled for Sept. 25
East Brunswick’s annual Our Community Is Fair cultural festival, a celebration of the township’s ethnic diversity, will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the East Brunswick municipal pond, Ryders Lane. Rain date is Oct. 2.
The daylong event will feature continuous cultural entertainment, a free craft project for children, free face painting, an ethnic food court, craft vendors, cultural exhibits and more.
Limited space remains for craft vendors and exhibitors.
Our Community Is Fair is sponsored by the Township of East Brunswick Division of Recreation and the East Brunswick Human Relations Council.
Admission to the festival is free of charge.

It’s ‘Apple Time’ for youngsters at library

Youngsters to paint pumpkins at library

Monroe arts panel to present Toxic Audio
The award-winning group Toxic Audio will appear for one performance, 2 p.m. on Oct. 16, at the Richard P. Marasco Center for the Performing Arts, Monroe Township High School, Perrineville Road. The event is sponsored by the Monroe Township Cultural Arts Commission.
Toxic Audio presents a vocal-comedy improvisational theatrical experience featuring five vocalists and no instruments. Families are invited to view the show and sing and dance in their seats.
The 90-minute theatrical “dialogueless” show combines original skits, quirky musical numbers, improv and backflips, in a style often compared to the productions of Stomp and Blue Man Group.
In 1998 Toxic Audio launched its show in an abandoned storefront at the Orlando International Fringe Festival. The players caught the attention of Walt Disney Co. executives who hired them as featured performers at Walt Disney World’s MGM Studios, Orlando.
The group has made national television appearances with Ed McMahon and Wayne Brady and performed a reggae-style weather report on ESPN2’s morning show “Cold Pizza.” Toxic Audio won the 2004 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience for its off-Broadway show at the John Houseman Theatre, New York City.
Tickets for the Monroe show cost $20 for the general public, $18 for patrons; students will be admitted free of charge. Advance tickets will be available at the Monroe Township Senior Center, 1 Municipal Plaza; at the Monroe Township Community Center, 120 Monmouth Road; and at the door just prior to the performance.

Golf outing will benefit families of firefighters
Brothers Helping Brothers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families of New Jersey firefighters killed or disabled in the line of duty, will hold a fund-raising golf outing on Oct. 10 at the Concordia Golf Club, Monroe.
Tee-off and shotgun start are set for 7:45 a.m. The event will include a continental breakfast, hamburgers and hot dogs on the turn, a buffet lunch and an awards ceremony.
The outing will feature a hole-in-one challenge for an automobile, a 50/50 raffle, and prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and more.
Collared shirts are a must. Jeans are not permitted.
Donation is $125 per player, $450 for a foursome. Hole sponsorships are available at $200 each. All proceeds will go directly to the families of the fallen heroes.

Brothers Helping Brothers was founded after the attack on the World Trade Center, New York City, to raise money for the families of rescue workers killed while responding to the terrorist attacks. The fund has become permanent and has helped the families of seven New Jersey firefighters lost in the line of duty.
‘Mammal Mania’ next up at library
Live mammals from around the world will be featured in “Mammal Mania” planned for 10 a.m. on Sept. 24 at the Sayreville Public Library, 1050 Washington Road. Children of all ages are invited to attend.
The event also will include information on animal behaviors, habitats, adaptations, predator-prey relations, relationships with humans and individual personalities. There will be a discussion on whether or not the animals are appropriate pets.
