Police seek suspect in fireplace poker robbery
BY LAUREN MATTHEW
Staff Writer

OLD BRIDGE — Police are seeking information regarding a man accused of robbing a township resident Saturday by threatening the victim with a fireplace poker.

At 2:38 p.m., police said, a suspect identified as Kenneth Kilpatrick, 19, approached a person he knew outside a convenience store in the Deep Run shopping center, Route 9.

The suspect asked his acquaintance for a ride, and then he and a second suspect got into the victim’s car, police said. After driving to the nearby Deep Run housing development, the suspects allegedly pulled out the fireplace poker and demanded the driver’s money.

The victim handed over $100, a cell phone and a watch.

According to police, Kilpatrick, also known as “Stretch,” has a tattoo of dice on his left forearm and a serenity prayer tattoo on his right arm. Police cautioned that Kilpatrick was arrested in August and charged with the illegal possession of a fully loaded gun.

The second suspect was described as a black male between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall with short hair. During the incident, the man was wearing blue jean shorts and red beads around his neck.

Anyone with information regarding Kilpatrick or the other suspect is asked to call Detective Walter Decker at (732) 721-5600, ext. 3320.
