Obituaries Edwin Sierra Mr. Sierra, 46, of Middletown, died Oct. 16 at home. Born in Florida, he had resided in New York City and Northvale, Bergen County, before moving to Middletown in 1980. Mr. Sierra was the owner/operator of Absolute Audio, Middletown, the past 10 years. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Church, Old Bridge. Mr. Sierra is survived by his wife of 25 yeas, Miriam Ortiz Sierra; his parents, John and Luz Sierra of Howell; a daughter, Angela Emanuele of Middletown; a son, Edwin Sierra Jr. of Middletown; two brothers, John Sierra and David Sierra, both of Middletown; and a sister, Elizabeth Lepard of Howell. A funeral service was held at First Assembly of God Church, Shrewsbury, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Hilde Ehrich Strobel Mrs. Strobel, 71, of Stafford Township, died Oct. 21 at home. Born in Uetze, Germany, she resided there before moving to New Jersey 50 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, in 1999; and by a grandson, J. Travis Peck, in 2003. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Rolf and Lori Strobel of Eagleswood; four daughters and sons-in-law, Helga S. and Brian Lescrinier of Manahawkin, Heike S. and Tony Arico of Seaside Park, Susan S. and Tom Allen of Monroe, and Elke S. and Kevin Peck of South River; a brother, Herbert Ehrich of Columbus; a sister, Gertrude Elgert of White Stone, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The Brunswick Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements. (Mark) Melvin Mrs. Melvin, 81, of South River, died Oct. 22 at home. A lifelong resident of South River, Mrs. Melvin graduated from South River High School and was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church, South River. She was a telephone operator at American Standard. She is predeceased by her parents, Conrad and Sophie Mark. She is survived by a daughter, Beth Melvin Del Monte of Spotswood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Mildred Mark of Edison, and Robert and Lillian Mark of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. The Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.
Ruth McGregor Creamer Mrs. Creamer, 90, of Sayreville, died Oct. 24 at Muhlenberg Hospice, Plainfeld. She was predeceased by her husband, John “Lefty” Creamer in 1994; her sister, Agnes Havican; and brother, William McGregor. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Antonini of Longs, S.C.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. A 9:30 a.m. Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Vicories R.C. Church, Sayreville. Burial was at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.
Paul Pincus Mr. Pincus, 87, of Old Bridge, died Oct. 23 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Bayonne on Nov. 21, 1917, he lived in Brooklyn and Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Old Bridge nine years ago. Mr. Pincus was a clarinetist. He began playing the clarinet at age 9 and attended The Juilliard School, New York City, on a scholarship. He worked from 1943 to 1960 as a Broadway pit musician, playing in many shows and appearing on a number of original cast albums. He performed in a number of Ethel Merman shows, including “Call Me Madam,” and “Annie Get Your Gun,” and concluded his Broadway career with “Flower Drum Song.” In the 1950s, Mr. Pincus recorded an album of klezmer music titled “Music for Happy Occasions.” He became an internationally known klezmer clarinetist and toured with the Epstein Brothers Orchestra and other groups. He instructed younger musicians for a number of years at KlezKamp. In 2002, he toured American and European cities with the Yiddish Radio Project, re-creating Yiddish radio programs from the 1930s and ’40s. Mr. Pincus was predeceased by his wife, Roslyn, in 1977. He is survived by his sisters, Florence Dolber and Harriet Nemeth, both of Old Bridge; several nieces and nephews, including Ellen and Barry Glenn, Debbie and Mark Efron, and Amy and Russell Rosen, all of Manalapan; and several grandnephews, grandnieces, and friends. Services were held at the Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan.
Mary “Maureen” B. Talbot Mrs. Talbot, 74, of Old Bridge, died Oct. 25 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amby. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Rose McGinley. She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Talbot; three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Tomas K. of Bayonne; Robert of Old Bridge; William and Joyce Talbot of Pilesgrove; Mark and Nancy Talbot of Freehold; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Cardoza of South Carolina; Rose and William Grierman of Whiting; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. A Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C Church in Old Bridge. Interment was at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in East Brunswick.
Edward W. Price Mr. Price, 80, of South River, died Oct. 22 at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He is a graduate of South River High School and Rutgers University. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Arthur E. Fritsch of Lavallette; and a nephew. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27 at the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Burial will be at the Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. In lieu of flowers, offerings may be sent to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Leonardine Avenue, South River.
