Obituaries Richard S. O'Such Mr. O'Such, 63, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 2 at home. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he worked as a custodian for the Sayreville school system for 33 years. Surviving are two brothers, Peter of Parlin and Kenneth of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Diane Marple of Parlin; and a niece, Stacy. Services were private.
Erik William Sturgis Erik, age 5, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 4 at home. He was a kindergarten student at Arleth Elementary School, Sayreville. His mother, Christina A. Dunigan Sturgis, died in 2001. Surviving are his father, Kevin W.; his maternal grandparents, Donna and Douglas Karlson of Old Bridge; two uncles, William Sturgis, U.S. Army in Iraq, and Sean Dunigan, U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq; his maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Czaja of Carteret; his paternal great-grandparents, Mildred and William Romer of North Carolina; and many great-aunts and great-uncles. A Mass was offered at Christ Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes, New Jersey Chapter, 5 Cedar Brook Drive, Cranbury, NJ 08512.
Patsy Anthony Anniello Mr. Anniello, 80, of Old Bridge, died March 10 in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. Surviving are his wife, Anna Rago Anniello; four children, Patricia Scutro of Manalapan, Donna Mulligan of Old Bridge, and Lori Narleski and Danny Anniello, both of the Parlin section of Sayreville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette's Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
John Patrick Gilmartin Mr. Gilmartin, 81, of the Belford section of Middletown, formerly of Old Bridge, died March 6 at home. He was predeceased by his first wife, Charlotte Rosner Gilmartin, in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Antoinette Abbott Gilmartin; three sisters, Gloria Moore of Jersey City, Joan Fiederowicz of Holmdel and Carol Bailey of Middletown; two stepsons, Edward Donofrio of Washington and Michael Donofrio of the Whitehouse Station section of Readington; two stepdaughters, Diana Donofrio of Tucson, Ariz., and Annette Donofrio of Whitehouse Station; and a grandson. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements. Glenn J. VanPell Mr. VanPell, 85, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 10 in Briarwood Care Center, South Amboy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Grand Union, North Brunswick, where he worked for 30 years. His wife, Margaret Saunders VanPell, died in 2003. Surviving are two sons, Glenn and Gerard, both of Parlin; a daughter, Dorothy Schaefer of Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sayreville First Aid Squad.
Mary Scordato Mrs. Scordato, 100, of Old Bridge, died March 12 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Pasquale, died in 1987; a son, Joseph, died in 2005; and another son, Frank, died in 1987. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Linda of Old Bridge; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy is planned for 10 a.m. on March 16 at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Catherine E. Cox Mrs. Cox, 89, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died March 4 in Summerhill Nursing Home, Old Bridge. Her husband, Francis J., died in 1980. Surviving are two sons, Thomas J. and John F., both of Parlin; a brother, Thomas Chambers of Piscataway; three grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette's Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Interment was in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro. Loriann Cassera Mrs. Cassera, 43, of Millstone, died March 10 at home. Surviving are her husband, Thomas, and four children, Matthew, Marissa, Nicholas and Thomas, all at home; her parents, Patrick J. and Concetta Murphy of Barnegat; and two brothers, Patrick Murphy of Old Bridge and Michael Murphy of New York City. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Millstone. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Alice A. Kreismer Ms. Kreismer, 85, of South Amboy, formerly of the Morgan section of Sayreville, died March 9 at home. Prior to her retirement in 1979, she was a receptionist for the late Dr. Clair E. Hesseltine of South Amboy. Surviving are a sister, Eileen Triggs of the Parlin section of Sayreville; a sister-in-law, Elaine Kreismer of Matawan; and many nieces and nephews, including Sister Christine Triggs, R.S.M., and Gail Triggs. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, also South Amboy.
Clara Hern Costa Mrs. Costa, 96, of Old Bridge, died March 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Victor Costa, died in 1974. Surviving are three nieces, Elizabeth Perry of Old Bridge, Kathryn Dudik of Brick and Rose Jarvis of Long Island, N.Y. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Englishtown. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Nina Kaminski Volgyi Mrs. Volgyi, 81, of South River, died March 3 in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1979, she was employed as a packager at Sunshine Biscuits, Sayreville, where she worked for 15 years. Her husband, George S. Volgyi, died in 2003. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Hoff of Sayreville and Diane Horvath of South River; and three grandchildren, Jamie and Jeffrey Hoff and Lauren Horvath. A service was held at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Thomas LoPresti Mr. LoPresti, 73, of Old Bridge, died March 3 at home. After his retirement in 1991 from Conrail, Newark, he worked part time for the Old Bridge Township Parks and Recreation Department for 10 years. He was a member of the Old Bridge Republican Committee for 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Marie A. Paladino LoPresti; three sons, John of Howell, Peter of Monroe and Richard of Old Bridge; two daughters, Janet McCarthy of Sayreville and Eva LoPresti of Jamesburg; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Vincent Stasi Mr. Stasi, 81, of Old Bridge, formerly of South River, died Feb. 28 at home. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he owned a nursery and retail garden center. Surviving are his wife, Rosa Iadevaia Stasi; three sons, Vincent Stasi Jr. of New York City, Michael Stasi of Red Bank and Joseph Stasi of Cranbury; three daughters, Lucia Moran and Rosemarie Stasi, both of Old Bridge, and Christine Dostie of Red Bank; five brothers, Raffaele, Carmine, Severino and Stefano, all of Italy, and Luciano of Matawan; and 11 grandchildren. A Mass was celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the Missionaries of Charity, 335 E. 145th St., Bronx, NY 10451.
Ross Skevington Mr. Skevington, 91, of Sayreville, died Feb. 19 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement in 1975, he was employed at DuPont Photo Products, Parlin section of Sayreville. Surviving are his wife, Mary Clemens Skevington; a brother, Raymond of California; a sister, Dorothea Schlegel of East Brunswick; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were under the direction of Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin.
