Obituaries

Michael Blazas

Mr. Blazas, 31, of East Brunswick, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died July 8 at home. A police officer for the borough of Sayreville for the past three years, he was a member of Sayreville Policemen's Benevolent Association No. 98. Prior to becoming a police officer, he was employed for eight years at C/C Gulf, Fords section of Woodbridge. He then was a self-employed landscaper, co-owning K&B Landscaping, Parlin, for three years. He later sold the business, now known as Lawn Enforcement, to his brother, Jason. Surviving are his wife, Dawn Nappi Blazas; his parents, Charles "Chip" and Sharon Nagy Blazas of Parlin; a brother, Jason of Parlin; his maternal grandmother, Olga Nagy of Fords; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Services are planned for 11 a.m. on July 13 at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Interment will follow in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.

Mary Kathleen Dery

Mrs. Dery, 71, of Manalapan, died June 29 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Prior to retiring, she worked for the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District for 12 years. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Erin Dery. Surviving are her husband, Charles; four sons, Charles Dery Jr. and William Dery, both of Manalapan, Thomas Dery of Rahway and John Dery of Manasquan; two daughters, Margie Allen of Lake Como and Elizabeth Dery of Manalapan; two sisters, Elizabeth Nicholls of the Morganville section of Marlboro and Margaret Dwyer of Sayreville; and 11 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan. Interment was private.

Helen C. Sidlowskas Glinka

Mrs. Glinka, 90, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of Matawan, died July 9 in Madison Center, Old Bridge. She was employed at Marlboro State Hospital, retiring in 1973. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Glinka, in 1981, and by a daughter, Carole Miller, in 1997. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pamela Glinka of Matawan; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Elizabeth. Interment was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Linden.

Glynn R. Ward

Mr. Ward, 82, of Spotswood, died June 27 at home. He was employed at Ford Motor Co., Edison, for 34 years, retiring in 1981. Mr. Ward was a former member of the Spotswood Board of Education and was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 35. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Meggison Ward; a son and daughter-in-law, Glynn and Loraine Ward of South Amboy; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Virginia Ward and Edward Linzer of Spotswood, Janis and Kevin Becker of South Amboy, Joyce Haslach of Sayreville, and Christine and Tony Giunta and Lisaann Ward, all of Freehold; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Charles Spezzi

Mr. Spezzi, 85, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died July 3 at home. He was the owner of Spezzi's Restaurant, Parlin, from 1959 to 1996. Following his retirement, he was a driver and attendant with Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin, Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville, and Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River, until 2001. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Janas Spezzi; a son and daughter-in-law, Carmen F. and Christine Spezzi; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna and Michael S. Mauro Sr., and Darlene Spezzi; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund, c/o Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy, NJ 08879.

Robin Weinberg

Ms. Weinberg, 54, of Old Bridge, died July 4 at home. Surviving are a brother, Lance Weinberg of Oregon; and her mother, Melba Weinberg, and her mother's husband, Robert Conroy, of Old Bridge. A funeral service was held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, N.Y.

Andrew P. Marino

Mr. Marino, 67, of the Belford section of Middletown, died July 9 in Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. His wife, Phyllis, died in 1991. Surviving are his fiance, Ruth Singer of New York; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Marino of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge and James Marino of the Lawrenceville section of Lawrence; and a brother, Anthony Marino of Margate, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Elizabeth Nemerovich Zubrick

Mrs. Zubrick, 88, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died July 4 at her daughter's home in Sayreville. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Zubrick; a son, Joseph A. Zubrick; and a daughter, Virginia Zubrick. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Michael Zollinger of Sayreville; a sister, Pauline Dziemian of South River; a brother, Adam Nemerovich of Boonton; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A funeral service was held at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery, Peckville, Pa.
