Plan already in existence for bike path in Mannino Park

In response to the letter to the editor written by Bill Jenkins concerning the bike path ("Include Bike Path in 'Conceptual' Plan for Mannino Park," Sept. 28, Suburban), I am very pleased to inform you that there is a plan to include a bike path in Mannino Park. In fact, the approved preliminary and final major site plan for the YMCA specifically includes the bike path on its plan.

The resolution of approval dated Oct. 3, 2006, refers to "the desire of the Township to install a bike path along Mannino Park Drive." The portion of the bike path in front of the YMCA will be constructed by the YMCA pursuant to the approved plan. The colored rendering of the site is available at town hall for review.

The construction of the YMCA is the gateway to development of Mannino Park. I fully support the bike path throughout Mannino Park and will do everything I can to ensure completion as we go forward. Ultimately, the "Bike Route" sign displayed at the entrance to Mannino Park will welcome bike enthusiasts like Mr. Jenkins to safe and happy riding in Old Bridge Township.
