Obituaries Theresa M. Jaje Downs Mrs. Downs, 77, of South Amboy, died Oct. 23, 2006, at home. Prior to her retirement in 1981, she was employed as an executive secretary with the Raritan River Railroad, South Amboy, where she worked for 16 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas E. Downs III. Surviving are four children, Thomas E. IV of South Amboy, Raymond E. of Sayreville, Michael E. of Holmdel and Cathy Dobrinsky of Saylorsburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A Mass was offered at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or to the South Amboy First Aid Squad.
Sean S. McClain Mr. McClain, 31, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge, died Oct. 24, 2006, at home. He was predeceased by his father, Richard McClain, in 1994. Surviving are his mother, Ferne Watson McClain of Cliffwood Beach; his twin brother, Scott McClain of Lakewood; a sister, Alicia Coleman of North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Brian John Coleman of North Carolina; and a nephew. Services were held at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Cremation was private.
Robert Schulman Mr. Schulman, 59, of Old Bridge, died Oct. 26, 2006, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Minnie Schulman. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Craig Schulman; two daughters, Kate Schulman and Maura Schulman, both of Old Bridge; two brothers, Maurice Schulman of New City, N.Y., and Lowell Schulman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters, Irene Schulman of Cedar Grove, Marcia Harris of Belleville and Helene Gutierrez of Orlando, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Lilly Schulman of Brooklyn; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. A service was held in Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. William D. Sullivan Mr. Sullivan, 78, of South Amboy, died Oct. 26, 2006, in Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System, Lyons section of Bernards. His wife, Alice Garoniak Sullivan, died in February. Surviving are two children, Maryalice Pearson and her husband, Robert, of Sayreville and U.S. Air Force Capt. Kenneth Sullivan and his wife, Jennifer, of Prattville, Ala.; and six grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Thomas S. Pytell Mr. Pytell, 79, of Old Bridge, died Oct. 24, 2006, in Victoria House, Matawan. After his retirement in 1988, he drove school buses for John Hauser, Old Bridge. A daughter, Victoria Tapscott, died earlier this year. Surviving are his wife, Angelina Pytell; a daughter, Kathy McGovern of Old Bridge; a sister, Betty Engbarth of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A Mass was offered at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Forest Green Memorial Park, Morganville section of Marlboro. Irene M. Hourtal Osowski Mrs. Osowski, 84, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., formerly of East Brunswick, died Oct. 18, 2006, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Francis Osowski, died in 2005. Surviving are five children, Judy Wester of Framingham, Mass., Karen Kecskes and Nancy Schwendeman, both of Spotswood, Frank "Bebe" Osowski of Monroe and Peter Osowski of West Milford; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A service was held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Winifred L. Berry Baumann Mrs. Baumann, 73, of Spotswood, died Oct. 21, 2006, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Vernon, died in 2000. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Surowiec of Howell; a son, Kevin of South Amboy; a brother, Kenny Berry of Old Bridge; two sisters, Karen Sciarappo of Freehold and Ellie McGill of Old Bridge; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Spotswood Reformed Church Cemetery.
