The Cheesequake School PTA will hold its second annual Tricky Tray/Vendor Night from 6:30-9 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the school, Route 34, Old Bridge. A limited number of tickets are available. Cost is $5 per person in advance. If there are any tickets remaining, cost will be $7 at the door. The tricky tray will feature jewelry, toys, games, food and more, all incorporated into gift baskets; gift certificates from local businesses; and several grand prizes. There will be a 50/50 raffle. Dinner will benefit Michael Daly Fund
A Bounce Back Dance to benefit the Bounce Back Michael Daly Fund will be held from 7-11 p.m. on Nov. 25 at Our Lady of Victories Parish, Monsignor Dalton Hall, Main Street, Sayreville. Christmas Bazaar set for Dec. 3 at St. Stan's
St. Stanislaus Kostka HSA will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the school, 221 MacArthur Ave., Sayreville. The event will feature a tricky tray, raffles, wheels, games, a 50/50 and photos with Santa. Prizes for the bazaar will include four one-day park hopper tickets to Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla.; an American Girl doll; an Elmo T.M.X.; an iPod nano; and more. The kitchen will open at 10 a.m. for breakfast. Luncheon menu will include pierogi, kielbasi and sauerkraut, noodles and cabbage, chicken parmigiana, sausage and peppers and more. Volunteers sought for domestic-violence team
The Sayreville Police Department is seeking volunteers from Sayreville and South Amboy to train as members of the Domestic-Violence Response Team. The team works with the police department, under the direction of Women Aware Inc. All volunteers must attend a 40-hour training session. Police checks will be conducted prior to acceptance. Trip to Jewish Museum, Frick slated for Jan. 18
The Alisa Chapter of Hadassah, the Brandeis University Women's Committee, Women's American ORT and the Yiddish Club at Greenbriar will sponsor a Jan. 18 trip to the Frick Museum and the Jewish Museum, New York City. The bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. from the Greenbriar Towne Centre parking lot, Monroe. The morning visit to the Frick will be enhanced by an audio tour to learn the history of the museum and its founder, Henry Clay Frick. After lunch the group will continue on to the Jewish Museum for a docent-led tour of "The Masters of American Comics," with a focus on 14 of the most innovative and influential artists and how comics have dealt with critical social issues of the American 20th century. Alborada to dance in 'Sephardic Connection' The Piscataway Cultural Arts Commission will present the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre in a new production of "The Sephardic Connection: The Story of the Spanish Jews" at 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Piscataway High School, Patton Building Auditorium, 100 Behmer Road. The performance will celebrate the cross-cultural influences of the Sephardic Jewish culture and Spain, Morocco and Turkey. The Sephardim, a Jewish population indigenous to Spain in the Middle Ages, made many contributions to Spanish music, dance, architecture, literature and culture. In 1492 the group left to reside in Turkey, Morocco and other countries. Accompanied by the Daughters of Sophia Tribal Dance Troupe, The Noga Group (Sephardic musicians), Middle Eastern dancer Ramsey and cantorial singer Laurie Fechter, the Alborada dancers will explore the links between the Spanish Sephardim and Sephardic Jewish cultures elsewhere. Highlights will include a fusion music-and-dance piece developed by Alborada executive and artistic director Eva Lucena, and a new music composition, "Tangos de Oliva," by Alborada music director Carlos Revollar. County to administer flu, pneumonia vaccine The Middlesex County Health Department will offer flu and pneumococcal vaccinations to county residents from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Sayreville Senior Center, 423 Main St. Flu shots will be administered to Middlesex County residents, age 18 and older. While the vaccine is free of charge, Medicare will be billed where applicable - residents must bring their Medicare card to the center. Proof of age and proof of county residence will be required. An appointment is required for pneumonia vaccinations, which will be provided only to residents age 65 and older who have not received the vaccine since turning 65. A Drive Through the Christmas Story, an outdoor display of 10 life-size Bible scenes including live characters, animals and holiday music, will be presented from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 5-9:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 24-Dec. 3, on the circular grounds of Sayre Woods Bible Church, Route 9 south, Old Bridge. A tape and cassette player will enable participants to go on a guided tour of the Christmas story from the convenience of their cars. Admission is free of charge.
