Dedication, plaques honor late veterans

The Sayreville Veterans Alliance will dedicate two plaques in memory of deceased borough veterans at the Sayreville Public Library on Washington Road at 10 a.m. Dec. 2. Vincent Robert Chitren, of the U.S. Army, and Woodrow Hausserman Jr., of the U.S. Marines, are the honorees.

Fellow Marine and retired New Jersey State Police Major George Coyle will speak for Haussermann, who is the only Sayreville resident killed in the Korean War. Borough Councilman Stanley Drwal will speak for Chitren as a fellow graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The event will include a wreath presentation, and a rifle squad will play taps.
