On Nov. 21 the U9 Old Bridge Hurricanes' girls participated in their first tournament in North Brunswick's Spookarama. The Hurricanes were victorious in both games. Finishing in first place for the U9 girls' division Flight B. The Hurricanes exploded for 12 goals in two games, defeating the Cranbury Storm and Wanderers by scores of 6-0. The offensive firepower came in many forms, with three goals scored by Meagan Donohue and Isabella D'Acunto, two goals by Gabriella Breyberg, and Jessica Tranchina, Katie Lombardi, Julia Miccola and Sabrina Youssef all chipping in with a goal apiece. The outstanding defensive play was led by Taylor Ianniello, Taylor Martinez, Victoria Kamvissis, Katie Dunn. The goaltending tandem of Mackenzie Mahoney and Sabrina Yousef pitched a shutout in both games, sparking the team to victory. The starting goalie, Lucy Tamke, could not play due to illness.

Cheesequake Baseball registration for the spring league is now available. In-person registration will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cheesequake fields, Route 9 and Schulmeister Road, Old Bridge. The Old Bridge Tornados, a U11 boys travel soccer team, has once again captured first place in the Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association's premier division, compiling a 9-0-1 record. They closed out their impressive MOSA fall season with a 2-0 win over the Alliance Rangers of Manahawkin. In tournament play, this fall, against some of the very best teams in the state, the Tornados compiled a respectable 2-5-3 record. In a particularly exciting first-round game of the State Cup Tournament, back in late September, the Tornados went through 60 regulation minutes and then two additional 10-minute overtime periods before falling, to a strong PDA team from Zarephath in a shoot-out by the score 5-3. The talented Tornado players are: co-captains Nick Carrington (sweeper) and Kevin Casari (center midfield); forwards Jake Connors, Peter Krzewinski, Michael Guzzo and Joseph Aldorasi; midfielders Brian Caceda, Christina Shannon, Tanner Lyons and Sooria Suresh; backs Amando Moreno, Bhairav Mehta, Anthony Indelicato and Andrew Stetson; and goaltenders Tristan Norcutt and Michael Mohin. The Tornados will spin down a bit this winter before revving back up to open their spring season in March. The team is trained by Ricardo Carrion.

The Sayreville Riverdogs 11U 50/70 travel baseball team based out of Sayreville Little League completed their 2006 Season winning the spring and fall USABL Championship titles. Combined for the spring and fall the team compiled a 26-1 record. In August the Riverdogs competed in a week long tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC at the new Cal Ripken Complex. They took second place in a heartbreaking loss in seven innings with a score of 4-3. They were defeated by the Reds of New York. This special group of Riverdogs consists of Richie Johns, Peter Mellos, Brandon Bielak, Christian Campbell, Jordan Pickus, Josh Lowe, Anthony Ungano, Matt Rivera, Matt Bouthillette and Mike Kaefer. Playing in the spring also included Anthony LaVigne, Connor Green and Scott Griffin. The coaches are Brian Bielak, Bob Bouthillette, Nick Mellos and Jeff Campbell.

The Sayrewoods South Little League's spring registration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9-10:30 a.m. Registration fee is $75 for once child, $100 for two or more and $50 for t-ball (5-year-olds). A work bond of $ 100 due at registration is also required. Upon completion of 12 hours work, your bond money will be promptly refunded. A $40 raffle fund-raiser will be distributed at registration and the money will be collected at that time. The 2007 season includes all boys and girls born between May 1, 1990, and April 30, 2002. A copy of his/her birth certificate is required at registration for all new players and will be retained for future references.

The Old Bridge Hurricanes U12 boys travel baseball team is having an open tryout for its spring 2007 roster. Any player born in 1994/95 (can't be 13 before May 1) who is interested in playing on a competitive level call Herman at (732) 718-0124 or e-mail at heram23@aol.com. The following are the results of the Tamarack Women's Nine-Hole Golf Association's Oct. 5 outing - par fours, half handicap. Ann Marie Broehl took the A Flight with a 21, followed by Elle de la Bandera (23), Abbey Lorber (23) and Joan Hoskins (24). Ruth Rosenberg took the B Flight with a 22, followed by Joyce Nicolaison (23). Morie Marino took the C Flight with a 23, followed by Doris Colgrove (25), Fran Poulin (26) and Cathy Battista (26). Elle de la Bandera had fewest putts with 15.

At the Oct. 12 competition - kickers (no flights, choose own handicap to come as close to par as possible - Nicolaison took first with a 36, followed by Marino (35), Broehl (38) and Semen (39). Broehl had fewest putts with 17.

The New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Officials Association will be holding cadet classes for individuals interested in becoming high school boys' lacrosse officials. Classes will be held at various locations throughout the state, beginning in January. Prior playing experience is not necessary. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older.
