Thompson to offer help

with Medicare Part D

Assemblyman Sam Thompson (R-13) will sponsor one-on-one assistance with the Medicare Part D prescription-drug program from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road. The service also is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays, at the assemblyman’s office, 725 Route 34, Matawan.

The events are designed to aid Medicare beneficiaries who have questions about their Part D prescription-drug coverage, those who have hit the “coverage gap,” and those who have received increased premiums.

Trained Medicare counselors will sit down with each individual to help find the plan that is best for the senior.

The annual open enrollment for the Medicare Part D program runs through Dec. 31. Although beneficiaries may enroll for the first time or change their plan until Dec. 31, the Centers for Medicare Services is recommending that beneficiaries who want to change their plan do so by Dec. 8 to ensure that the paperwork will be completed by Jan. 1, when the new plans go into effect.

For an appointment at any of the Medicare Part D events, call the assemblyman’s office at (732) 583-5558. Seniors must bring their Medicare card and their medications or a list of the medications (including dosages) to the appointment.
