Five make it to Eagle

SAYREVILLE — Five local teens were recently presented with their Eagle badges after earning the highest rank Boy Scouts can achieve.

The ranks were awarded during a ceremony at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Washington Road.

Frank Falco, who won several Camporee competitions as a patrol leader, completed a project that consisted of painting house numbers on the curbs in front of residents’ homes in the Laurel Park area. Frank is a member of the Order of the Arrow and a member of the Ceremonies Team.

Dan Garrihy, senior patrol leader, won several awards including Honor Patrol at Snuffy Hollow. His Eagle project consisted of painting the Veterans’ Memorial on Ernston Road. Dan is a vice chief and vigil member for the Order of the Arrow and is a member of the Sakuwit Lodge 2. He is also a member of the Ceremonies Team.

Dan Mages won many awards including Snuffy Hollow as a patrol leader. Along with Scouting, Dan is active in community theater. Dan’s Eagle project consisted of remodeling St. Patrick’s Hall in St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy.

Ted Midura won many awards and won Camporee and Snuffy Hollow competitions as a senior patrol leader. Ted is the chief for the Order of the Arrow and a member of the Sakuwit Lodge 2. Ted is also a member of the Ceremonies Team. His Eagle project consisted of painting the Knights of Columbus building.

David Zas won many awards including Camporee and Snuffy Hollow competitions as a patrol leader. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow, and a State Band member who participates in many piano recitals.

David’s Eagle project consisted of landscaping around the flagpole and concessions stand at the soccer field.
