Cecelia Finan Kurowsky
Mrs. Kurowsky, 88, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Dec. 10, 2006. Her husband, Raymond, died in 2002, and a daughter, Karen, died in 2001. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Peter Cannella of Sayreville; a son-in-law, Louis DeVaughn of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Dolores Kurowsky of Kentucky; four grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews. John J. Ciecko
Mr. Ciecko, 76, of Sayreville, died Dec. 18, 2006, at home. He was employed in the maintenance department at the Sayreville Board of Education for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, Anthony James and Julius Ciecko; and a sister, Clara Daddio. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elaine Benti Ciecko; a daughter, Debra Ann Ciecko of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Dorothy Rutkowski of South River. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, both Sayreville. Arrangements were by Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville.
Maryanne Kalamon
Miss Kalamon, 56, of Old Bridge, died Dec. 18, 2006. She was employed as a medical assistant. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1818, Memphis, TN 38101-9903.
Irene B. Plewa Malik
Mrs. Malik, 74, of Sayreville, died Dec. 17, 2006, at home. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Malik in 2000; three brothers, Andrew, Joseph and Edwin Plewa; and a sister, Mary Kozinski. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Karen Malik of South Amboy; two brothers, Stanley Plewa of Old Bridge, and Walter Plewa of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Rose Wickley of San Antonio, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Interment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick.
Joseph C. Zonak
Mr. Zonak, 43, of Sayreville, died Dec. 15, 2006, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. He was a truck driver at Propane Power, Newark, for nine years, retiring three years ago. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and was an ex-chief at Melrose Hose Company. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Nora T. Fischer Zonak; two sons, Nicholas Joseph and Matthew James, both at home; his parents, Chester and Elaine Osnato Zonak of Parlin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Richard Johnson, and Mary Ellen and Lawrence McMahon, all of South Amboy; and a nephew and niece. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. Burial was at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville. Arrangements were by Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin.
Angelina R. Fernicola Sadowski
Mrs. Sadowski, 84, of New Brunswick, died Dec. 12, 2006, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Sadowski; two sons, Steven of South River and Joseph of New Brunswick; a sister, Theresa Fernicola of Nutley; a brother, Michael Fernicola of Newark; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church, New Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
Ruth A. Jenkin Zink
Mrs. Zink, 83, of Old Bridge, died Dec. 6, 2006, in Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Her husband, Ebden Zink, died in 1985, and a daughter, Judith Grooms, died in 1990. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Imkemeier of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge and Jacqueline Flohs of the Toms River section of Dover; two sons, Donald Zink of Rockaway and Douglas Zink of Sayreville; a brother, David Jenkin of Florida; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jenkin of Parsippany; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were held at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation Inc., 1501 N.W. Albert J. Castagnetta Jr.
Mr. Castagnetta, 68, of Freehold Township, formerly of Old Bridge, died Dec. 7, 2006, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Nancy Rebak; a son and daughter-in-law, A.J. III and Renee Castagnetta of Hopelawn; two grandchildren; and a cousin, Edward Castagnetta of Helmetta. Funeral services were private, with the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, in charge of arrangements.
Sharon Craney Kirkman
Mrs. Kirkman, 61, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Dec. 9, 2006, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the medical records department at Roosevelt Hospital, Edison, where she worked for 15 years. Surviving are her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Christine McFeeley of Manalapan and Sandra Hines of Sayreville; a sister, Veronica McGloan of the Morgan section of Sayreville; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, also South Amboy.
Stella V. Lobycz Masiello
Mrs. Masiello, 92, of South River, died Dec. 16, 2006, at the Residence at Forsgate, Monroe. She was predeceased by her husband, James V. Masiello in 1961; and a daughter, Marguerite Masiello. She is survived by a son, Samuel J. Masiello of East Brunswick; a brother, Stanley Lobycz of South Amboy; and a granddaughter. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River.
Marian Ahern Geiger
Mrs. Geiger, 89, of Boca Raton, Fla., and formerly Milltown, died Dec. 15, 2006, in Deerfield, Fla. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Melissa Feller. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Feller of Princeton; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Milltown. Arrangements were by Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home, Milltown.
Margaret C. Wainczak
Mrs. Wainczak, 89, formerly of Sayreville, died Dec. 12, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Montague. Her husband, Michael, died in 1979. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, June and George Ruskai and Pam and Bill Stephens; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.
Margaret J. Smith
Mrs. Smith, 86, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 11, 2006, in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Her husband, Linus Smith, died in 1986. Surviving are a son, Linus Smith Jr. of Spotswood; two daughters, Janet White of Westminster, Colo., and Mary Lynn Zydycryn of East Brunswick; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, South Brunswick.
