Friends seeks donations for Jan. 14 book sale

The Friends of the Sayreville Public Library will sponsor its Winter Book Sale from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 in the conference room at the library, Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville.

Books may be purchased separately or for $5 a bag. Selections will include fiction, nonfiction, mystery, paperbacks and more.

Donations of children’s books, nonfiction and current fiction are sought for the sale. Items may be dropped off at the Friends’ mailbox at the library. For more information, call (732) 727-1566.

Mighty Oak Players to present ‘Barefoot in Park’

Monroe Township’s Mighty Oak Players community theater will hold auditions for Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park” Jan. 4, 5, 10 and 11 at Richard P. Marasco Performing Arts Center at Monroe Township High School, 1629 Perrineville Road, Monroe Township. Needed are two women and four men of various ages. Show dates are March 23-25. OLV Seniors to offer Jan. 22 trip to casino

Our Lady of Victories Seniors will sponsor a Jan. 22 trip to the Hilton Casino, Atlantic City.

The bus will depart at 10 a.m. from the lower parking lot at Our Lady of Victories Parish, Main Street, Sayreville. Return will be at approximately 8 p.m.

Families invited to

caroling celebration

A Christmas Caroling Celebration and Singalong, presented by the music ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Bernadette, is set for 7 p.m. on Dec. 30 at St. Bernadette’s Church, Villanova and Princeton Roads, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Family members of all ages are invited.

Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the less fortunate in the community. Refreshments and fellowship will follow in the church’s O’Dea Hall. For more information or directions, call (732) 721-3201.

Childbirth/Lamaze class

scheduled in Sayreville

Raritan Bay Medical Center will sponsor a one-day Childbirth Education/Lamaze Class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Bay OB/GYN, 2045 Route 35 south, Sayreville.

The class, designed by health care professionals, aims to help future parents better understand the birth process. A registered nurse, specifically trained in labor, delivery and child-care techniques, will facilitate the class.
