Old Bridge Lacrosse Association’s new season will begin March 1. Registration will be held as the South Old Bridge Fire Department on Englishtown Road and Appleby Avenue from 6-9 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 11. Applications can be downloaded at www.oldbridgelacrosse.com or picked up the night of registration. Equipment orders will be placed for new players, as well as current players. Orders will also be collected for Old Bridge Lacrosse apparel such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and jackets (50 percent deposit required on all apparel). The Central Jersey Vipers, an 18U Old Bridge-based girls fastpitch softball travel team, are looking for pitchers for the 2007 softball season. The Vipers had a very successful 2006 season, winning and placing in several tournaments as a 16U team and will be moving up to 18U for the 2007 season. Brandeis University’s Jaime Capra, of Old Bridge, was named a University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for Dec. 11. Capra, a guard on the Judges’ seventh-ranked women’s basketball team, led Brandeis to a 2-0 week and an 8-0 fall semester. She averaged 21 points, 2.5 rebounds and two assists per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor (13-of-25) and 69 percent from three-point range (nine-of-31). On Dec. 6, the Judges downed WPI, 70-51, behind Capra’s 22 points, three boards and two assists. Brandeis closed out the semester with a 67-48 win at Western New England College on Dec. 9 thanks to Capra’s 20 points, two rebounds and two assists. Capra moved into a tie for sixth place on the university’s career three-point list and second in career three-point percentage (56-of-137, .409).

The Old Bridge Tuesday and Thursday night Fastpitch League is looking for umpires (experienced/inexperienced) for its slow-modified pitch league. Umpires will be trained by the league.
