Community Bulletin Board Youngsters sought for Jan. 15 'Project Linus'
Young people in grades 6-12 are invited to participate in a "Project Linus-New Jersey" program set for 7-8:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 at the Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road. Participants will make "no-sew" fleece blankets for youngsters who suffer from serious illness and trauma. Project Linus, with chapters in all 50 states, collects blankets locally and distributes them to children in hospitals, shelters, social-service agencies, etc. Community-service hours are available for those who participate in the hands-on library project. Free seminar to focus on identity theft
"Identity Theft: How To Protect Your Identity," the fourth in a series of free monthly financial seminars offered by the Raritan Bay Healthcare Foundation, is set for 2:30-4 p.m. on Jan. 17 in Auxiliary Hall C, Raritan Bay Medical Center Old Bridge division, One Hospital Plaza, off Ferry Road, between routes 9 and 18. The seminar is designed to inform and educate participants about what identity theft is, how it is accomplished, and methods to use to protect oneself from becoming a victim. Presenter will be certified financial planner Robert J. Goellner of Common Interests Inc., Metuchen. The public is invited. Admission is free of charge. Refreshments will be served. Winter Book Sale set for Jan. 14 at library
The Friends of the Sayreville Public Library will sponsor its Winter Book Sale from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 in the conference room at the library, Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville. Books may be purchased separately or for $5 a bag. Selections will include fiction, nonfiction, mystery, paperbacks and more. Donations of children's books, nonfiction and current fiction are sought for the sale. Items may be dropped off at the Friends' mailbox at the library. For more information, call (732) 727-1566. |
