Gov. should keep promise for convention

If we were to cast a television adaptation of "Trenton Does Property Tax Relief," who better to star than Jerry, George Costanza and Cosmo Kramer? The bumbling, stumbling and ineptitude would be funny, if it wasn't so sad.

Many of us have worked for several years seeking a citizens constitutional property tax convention. We have come close at times, only to see our hopes dashed by the very people and party we have supported.

Last July the governor promised to call a convention if his special session on tax relief did not result in meaningful progress by year's end. Now he has pushed the date back while the results of the special session lie in shambles at his feet.

Mr. Governor, there is no shame in failure, if you have tried. Failure is no disgrace, but making a promise and breaking it is. Keep your promise. Call a citizens convention and let us do the job that Jerry, George and Cosmo couldn't do! You are our governor, too.
