Saint Paul Seven to perform at library

Saturday Concerts @ the Old Bridge Public Library, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, will continue at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 with an appearance by the Saint Paul Seven vocal ensemble.

The choral group, under the direction of Jean Volk, has a repertoire that includes familiar classical works, spirituals and popular compositions.

St. Patrick's Day gala next up at O.B. VFW

The Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7508 will sponsor its annual St. Patrick's Bash beginning at 6 p.m. on March 3 at the post home, 17 Bordentown Ave., Old Bridge.

The event will include a corned beef dinner, free beer and soda, entertainment and dancing. Donation is $15 per person. Tickets will be sold in advance only; no tickets will be available at the door. For more information and to reserve, call Sue Totten at (732) 251-7371.

Tickets on sale for Night at the Races

Leroy Cooper School, Old Bridge, will sponsor a Night at the Races fundraiser from 7 p.m. to midnight on March 2 at the Holiday Inn, Route 35 south, Hazlet. Post time is 7:45 p.m.

The event will feature horse races, a tricky tray, raffles, a 50/50, prizes, a buffet and cash bar.

Cost is $30 per ticket and includes one free sheet of tricky tray raffle tickets. Individuals must be age 21 or older to attend. Proceeds will benefit Cooper School PTA-funded activities. Advance purchase is encouraged; a limited amount of tickets are available.

Catholic Women sets Feb. 25 blood drive

The Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women, in conjunction with New Jersey Blood Services, will host a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the cafeteria at Sacred Heart School, Cedar Street and Washington Road, South Amboy. Crafters, vendors needed for March 10 show

Crafters and vendors are sought for the St. Thomas the Apostle HSA annual Spring Crafts and More Show set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 10 in the school auditorium, Route 18 south, Old Bridge.

Workshop will cover citizenship, immigration

A Citizenship and Immigration Workshop is set for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Sayreville Public Library, 1050 Washington Road.

Guest presenter will be Debby Alter, director of immigrant and refugee services at Jewish Family and Vocational Services of Middlesex County.

Topics will include citizenship eligibility and requirements; where, when and how much it costs to file an application; a review of the citizenship application; how to help one's parents pass the test; how to prepare for the test; what happens at the interview; what to do if the application or any immigrant application is lost or delayed; how to advocate for oneself; and how to file petitions for family members abroad.

Participants may bring a completed application for review. Applications and citizenship-test preparation materials will be available. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served. 'Nature Quiz Game' to be played at park

A "Nature Quiz Game" program will begin at 1 p.m. on Feb. 18 at the Cheesequake State Park Interpretive Center, 300 Gordon Road, Old Bridge.

Peace-Treaty Poker, Silent Auction planned

East Brunswick Hadassah will present a Peace-Treaty Poker and Silent Auction at 8 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the East Brunswick Jewish Center, 511 Ryders Lane.

Peace-Treaty Poker is a fast-paced game in which each hand is played against a different pair of players. The silent auction will feature numerous prizes. Refreshments will be served.

Admission is $18 per person. Proceeds will benefit one of the fund-raising focuses of Hadassah.

St. Stanislaus Kostka Rosary Altar Society will sponsor an Oct. 14-18 trip to Las Vegas.

Cost is $599 per person (plus $46 in taxes and fees), based on double occupancy, and includes round-trip air transportation from Newark Airport, four nights at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino, bellman services, round-trip transfers and all taxes.

Registration to begin for recreation programs

The Sayreville Recreation Department will accept registration from Feb. 26-March 13 for the spring session of its "Mom and Me" and "Little Kids Play" Kennedy Park preschool programs.

Young artists to perform at St. Mary's

Christopher M.C. Deibert and the Music at St. Mary's Concert Series will present the 2007 Young Artist Recital at 4 p.m. on Feb. 18 at St. Mary's Church, 256 Augusta St., South Amboy.

The annual event, which showcases talented performers under the age of 18, will feature a classical music concert with a 16-piece ensemble from the New Jersey Youth Chamber Ensemble.

Admission is free of charge; however, free-will donations will be gratefully accepted. The public is invited.

Alborada to perform in 'Celtic Connection'

The Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University, 400 Cedar Ave., West Long Branch, will present the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre in a performance of "The Celtic Connection" at 8 p.m. on Feb. 24.

The cross-cultural program will illustrate Celtic influences on Spain and Ireland. Performers will include the entire Alborada company, the Niall O'Leary Irish Dance Troupe, featured artists from Centro Oresano (a New Jersey-based cultural group that performs Celtic-influenced Northern Spanish dances and music) and the Irish band Coolmagort.

Tickets available for St. Stan's Fish Fry

St. Stan's HSA will hold its annual Fish Fry from 4-7 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the St. Stanislaus Kostka School cafeteria, 221 MacArthur Ave., Sayreville.

Dinners will include filet of flounder; vegetable; choice of baked potato, fries or haluski (noodles and cabbage); beverage; and dessert. In addition, the kitchen also will offer a-la-carte pizza, macaroni and cheese, clam chowder, mozzarella sticks and haluski. Tickets cost $12 per person. Advance order is strongly recommended; only a limited amount of tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event. Tickets may be purchased in advance after all Masses at St. Stan's Church on Feb. 17 and 18 or by calling the parish office at (732) 254-0212.

OLV Columbiettes schedules fish fries

Our Lady of Victory Columbiettes will host Lenten Fish-Fry Dinners from 4:30-7 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21, and on six consecutive Fridays, March 2-April 6, at the Knights of Columbus Victorian Hall, 775 Washington Road, Parlin section of Sayreville. The menu will feature broiled- or fried-fish dinners, salad bar and dessert. Takeouts will be available. Telephone orders will not be accepted.

Knights will host Pancake Breakfast

St. Lawrence Knights of Columbus Council No. 10281 will sponsor its annual Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on March 11 in the St. Lawrence Parish Center, Laurence Parkway, Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge.

The menu will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, coffee and tea.
