March 2

+ A Night at the Races, sponsored by Leroy Cooper School, Old Bridge, 7 p.m. to midnight, post time is 7:45 p.m., at the Holiday Inn, Route 35 south, Hazlet. Horse races, tricky tray, raffles, 50/50, prizes, buffet, cash bar. Cost is $30 per ticket; includes one free sheet of tricky tray raffle tickets. Must be age 21 or older to attend. + Parent-and-Child Sweetheart Dance, sponsored by the Old Bridge Youth Guidance Council, 7 p.m., at the George Bush Center, in the municipal complex, Route 516 and Cottrell Road. + Lenten Fish Fries, sponsored by St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River, 5-7 p.m., in St. Mary's School cafeteria, Jackson Street, South River. Dinner includes fish, French fries, coleslaw, bread, dessert, coffee, tea. Cost per dinner is $10 for adults, $3 for youngsters under age 12. Children's macaroni-and-cheese dinners available for $3.

March 2 & Fridays through April 6

+ Lenten Fish-Fry Dinners, sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Clark Moetz Post No. 2319, Milltown and North Brunswick, 5-8 p.m., at the post home, 45 Broad St., Milltown. Cost is $9 at the door. + A Knight of Chance, casino night and basket raffle, sponsored by the Milltown PTA, 7 p.m. to midnight, at the Farrington Manor, East Brunswick. Admission is $100 per couple, $60 per person; includes $100 play money per person for games such as craps, roulette, blackjack, video horseracing; raffle baskets featuring sports tickets, theme baskets, spa baskets, televisions, cell phones, more. + St. Patrick's Bash, sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7508, 6 p.m., at the post home, 17 Bordentown Ave., Old Bridge. + Basketball Game, featuring staff members at Spotswood High School and members of the Spotswood Police Department vs. a team of Spotswood High School seniors, 7 p.m., in the gym at the high school, Summerhill Road.
