Citizenship workshop coming to E.B. Library

The East Brunswick Library, Jean Walling Civic Center, will host a free citizenship workshop from 7-9 p.m. on March 14.

Guest speaker Debby Alter, director of immigration and refugee services at Jewish Family and Vocational Services of Middlesex County, will discuss the citizenship-application process. Topics will include citizenship-eligibility requirements; where, when and how to file an application; cost to file an application; a review of the citizenship application; how to prepare for the citizenship test; what happens at the interview; what to do if an application is lost or delayed; advocacy at the Newark Service Center; and how to file petitions for family members abroad.

Participants may bring a completed application for review. Applications also will be available at the workshop.

The library recently added a Citizenship Resources page to its Web site. The page offers links to citizenship guides, requirements, test preparation, advocacy support and commonly requested forms.

To access, log on to www.ebpl.org, click on Best of the Web and then on Citizenship Resources.

For more information on the workshop, call (732) 390-6767.
