Sisters in Crime plans mystery symposium

Award-winning author Lee Harris will be the guest of honor at the Sisters in Crime Central Jersey Clued-In Mystery Readers and Writers Symposium set for 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. on April 14 at the Jamesburg Senior Center, 139 Stevens Ave.

Harris, the creator of the Christine Bennett series and the New York Mysteries series featuring New York Police Department Detective Jane Bauer, will discuss writing a female detective series and will answer audience questions.

The author will sign her 2006 Jane Bauer novel, "Murder in Greenwich Village," which will be available for purchase at the symposium.

A professional panel of first responders will offer a program titled "The 411 on 911." An interactive "Skills and Thrills" craft workshop will be presented by Sisters in Crime writing professionals.

The all-day symposium will begin at 8:30 a.m. with event registration and continental breakfast and will include lunch, afternoon tea/coffee break, used- and new-book sales and a literacy benefit.

Cost is $40. Advance registration is required.
