On March 4, the Sayreville recreation A league wrestling team had its end of the year tournament in South Brunswick. Coaching was done by Paul Munier, Stephen Fischer and Frank Roman.

While Anthony Pestoniet took home a first-place medal, Joseph Fischer finished second. Also wrestling for Sayreville were Matthew Pestoniet, Dylan Kelleher, Brett Dzamba, Nick Taillefer and Dean Westberry.

On March 11, Sayreville Recreation wrestlers attended the Middlesex Novice Tournament under coaches Frank Roman, John Metz and Paul Munier. Hunter Knoth took first place, while Ryan McCracken, Kyle Cruz, Corey Knoth, John Kelleher and Sam Perez took home second-place finishes. Finishing third were Ralph Feola and Dylan Taillefer, while Taylor O'Neil finished fourth. Also wrestling for Sayreville were Matt Libecci and Kory Hatton

In other wrestling news, some of Sayreville Rec's senior wrestlers went to states, and this is how they placed: Gary Siriday, fifth; Anthony Pestonit, sixth; and Michael Bohling, seventh.

On March 17, the U14 Old Bridge Lightning girls travel soccer team won the league championship in the U13/14 Girls Indoor Youth Winter Session at the Center Circle in Rahway. The 7-on-7 league consisted of 10 teams and included a five-week regular season and a three-week "Lightning Round" with two mini games per day. The Lightning players are Amanda Aloisi, Brianna Amato, Samantha Bartelli, Kelly Brybag, Jennifer Capalbo, Kelsey Duffy, Samantha Edel, Jackie Kushner, Katie Kushner, Megan McCarthy, Alyssa Pino, Maria Ruiz, Alyssa Sardone and Jessica Velez.
