Police nab suspect, 19, in burglary of E.B. store

EAST BRUNSWICK - Township police arrested a South River man after responding to a burglary in progress at a cell phone business Friday.

Officers arriving at Fast Link Communications Inc., located at 27-B Prospect St., at 12:53 a.m. found a broken window and were able to gain entry to the building to conduct a search. The business was found empty.

Police located two witnesses, however, who notified the officers that they had observed a dark-colored vehicle, which had been parked on Modzelewski Avenue, move and park on West Prospect Street.

The witnesses told police the vehicle contained four males, and that the group was seen exiting the car and walking toward Fast Link Communications.

While checking the area, Patrolman Guy Limato discovered 19-year-old Julius Pineda, of South River, hiding behind a shed in the yard of a Wilmot Street home. Pineda was in possession of several cell phones believed taken from the business, police said.

The vehicle, a blue 1989 Honda, was registered to Pineda.

Pineda was charged with burglary, conspiracy and criminal trespass. He was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, and held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
