Warren Hockemeier
Mr. Hockemeier, 95, formerly of Saddle Brook, died March 20, 2007, in Madison Center, Old Bridge. Surviving are three grandchildren, Mary Beth Hockemeier of Freehold, Kathryn Dawson of Fairfax, Va., and Nancy Hockemeier of Old Bridge; and a great-granddaughter. Graveside services were held at Mary Rest Cemetery, Mahwah. Arrangements were under the direction of Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
Dorothy Delvecchio Murphy
Mrs. Murphy, 73, of Old Bridge, died March 10, 2007, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, John E. Murphy Jr., died in 2002. Surviving are four sons, John Murphy III, and his wife, Georgette, Joseph Murphy, and his wife, Kathy, Brian Murphy, and his fiancé, Kathy Fitzsimmons, and Michael Murphy, and his wife, Susan, all of Old Bridge; two daughters, Kim Brewster of Monroe and Cathy Wyer, and her husband, Kevin, of Old Bridge; and 12 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Martin Director
Mr. Director, 77, of Helmetta, formerly of East Brunswick, died March 11, 2007, in Victoria House, Matawan. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Gibbons Director; two sons, Darrin Director, and his wife, Linda, of Brick, and Mark Director, and his wife, Jennifer, of East Brunswick; a daughter, Robin D'Esposito, and her husband, Ralph, of Old Bridge; two brothers, Joe and Stanley; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin L. Sebban,
U.S. Army
Sgt. Sebban, 29, of South Amboy, died March 17, 2007, in Baqouba, Iraq. A graduate of Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High Schools, East Brunswick, and the nursing program at Fort Bragg, N.C., he was serving as a medic with the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He won many awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with three oak-leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal with three oak-leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Medical Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge and Parachutist Badge. Surviving are his mother, Barbara Filik Walsh of the Neshanic Station section of Branchburg; and two brothers, Daniel Sebban of the Franklin Park section of Franklin and David Sebban of Branchburg. A service was held at Christ Episcopal Church, South Amboy. Interment is planned for 1 p.m. on March 29 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin L. Sebban Warrior Fund, P.O. Box 111, South Amboy, NJ 08879, a scholarship fund for students pursuing a career in the nursing/medical field.
Jean M. Doliva Sudnick
Mrs. Sudnick, 93, of South River, died March 23, 2007, in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Her husband, Joseph T., died in 2002. Surviving are a son, Joseph M., and his wife, Lucille, of Edison; two granddaughters, Suzanne Cogswell, and her husband, Andrew, of Beachwood and Dr. Kathleen Sudnick-Albert, and her husband, Dr. Ted Albert, of Auburn, Ala.; a grandson, Joseph M. Jr., of Edison; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Lillian M. Beltran Janosko
Mrs. Janosko, 69, of Sayreville, died March 20, 2007, at home. A son, Scott Janosko, died in 1999. Surviving are her husband, Stephen L. Janosko; two sons, Stephen Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of South River, and Vincent, and his wife, Debra, of Mississippi; five daughters, Linda Burke, Donna Beagan, and her husband, Daniel, Dawn Pucciarello, and her husband, Joseph, and Diane Lakatos, and her husband, John, all of Sayreville, and Lillian Hagins of South River; a daughter-in-law, Shelley Janosko of Mississippi; a brother, Vincent Beltran of Flemington; two sisters, June Emery of South Carolina and Ginger Riccardi of Brick; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Veronica Cymanski Evans
Mrs. Evans, 63, of Sayreville, formerly of South Amboy, died March 15, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are her husband, Maurice; four children, Barbara Cannon, Joseph Cymanski and Cheryl McQuade, all of Sayreville, and Bruce Cymanski of Barnegat; two stepchildren, Maurice A. Evans of Colts Neck and Michelle Carpentiero of Rochester, N.Y.; two brothers, Charles Rose of Cresco, Pa., and John Rose of South Amboy; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Cremation was private.
Marjorie Sawbridge Malandrucolo
Mrs. Malandrucolo, 81, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Feb. 26, 2007, at home. Her husband, Anthony, died in 1978. Surviving are two daughters, Delores Caperino, and her husband, Peter, with whom the deceased lived, and Linda Ganley, and her husband, Thomas, of Jersey City; a son, Anthony Malandrucolo Jr., and his wife, Rose Marie, of Jersey City; five granddaughters; and three great-grandsons. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
James L. Welch
Mr. Welch, 77, of Old Bridge, died March 18, 2007, at home. He was predeceased by his wife, Alberta Joell Welch. Surviving are five sons, Robert A. Welch of Edison, Thomas D. Welch, and his wife, Ellaura, and Jeffrey G. Welch, and his wife, Kathy, all of the Avenel section of Woodbridge, James E. Welch, and his wife, Ann, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Michael S. Welch, and his wife, Deanna Welch, of Anna, Texas; three daughters, Colleen A. Wuelfing, and her husband, Karl, of Lancaster, Pa., and Linda D. Mahan and Margaret J. Davidson, both of Linden; a sister, Leona McGuire of Howell; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his best friend, May Boyce. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
Ruth E. Finneran
Mrs. Finneran, 74, of Old Bridge, died March 20, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was a service analyst with Verizon, East Brunswick, where she worked for more than 30 years. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jessica Smak, in 1987, and by a grandson, Joshua Reilly, in 2001. Surviving are her husband, Eugene J. Finneran; two sons, Richard Finneran of the Turnersville section of Washington Township and Thomas Finneran of Wagoner, Okla.; three daughters, Sarah Wisiewski of Marlboro, Marianne Whitehead of Edison and Laura Reilly of Lambertvillle; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Spotswood. Anne Toots Smith
Mrs. Smith, 87, of Old Bridge, died March 24, 2007, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Sayreville, she resided in Old Bridge several years. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Smith. She is survived by two sons, Ronald Smith of Old Bridge, and Bruce Smith of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick; two daughters, Sandra Rooney of North Brunswick, and Bonnie Rickert of Toms River; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.
Judith Yanchyshyn Gatta
Mrs. Gatta, 62, of East Brunswick, died March 17, 2007, at home. Her mother, Anne Yanchyshyn, died in 2006. Surviving are her husband, George Gatta; a son, George W. Gatta of South Amboy; a daughter, Victoria Ann Campagna of Howell; and a brother, William Yanchyshyn of Indian Mound, Tenn. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
