Painting demo next up for Suburban Artists

Artist Ellen Gavin, who works primarily in oils, will offer a painting demonstration at 2 p.m. on April 13 at the East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center, during the next monthly meeting of the Suburban Artist Guild (SAG) of Central New Jersey. SAG board members will meet at 1 p.m.

Gavin is widely known for her landscapes, equestrian paintings and her "small idea" paintings. She is also an accomplished playwright and the founder and executive/artistic director of Brava for Women in the Arts.

SAG members have several ongoing exhibits of their multimedia artwork. More than 40 paintings are on view through May at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Student Lounge, 675 Hoes Lane, Piscataway. Approximately 25 paintings are on display during April at Orpha's Cafe, Route 206, across from the Montgomery Shopping Center, Montgomery. Members are also showing works from April 28-May 25 at the Marketplace Barnes and Noble, Route 130 north and Interstate 195, Hamilton.

For more information on the guild, call Allie Skislak at (732) 257-0031.
