Car windows broken in incident at motel
BY MICHAEL ACKER
Staff Writer

SAYREVILLE - Criminal mischief was reported Monday night at the Parkway Motor Inn on the southbound side of Routes 9 and 35.

Police were dispatched to the motel shortly before midnight on a report of a fight involving a large crowd. Several police officers responded and found five individuals standing around a black 2001 Honda Accord with all of its windows smashed except for the windshield.

The five people, who ranged in age from 18 to 20, reportedly told police that they had gotten into an argument with another group of people who had visited their room at the lodge.

This second group reportedly threw a bottle at the five people who spoke with the police. The five who were staying at the motel said they then tried to leave and go to their car. The assailants reportedly chased the victims to their car and used a tire iron to smash out its windows.

The suspects then fled the scene in a silver or light gray Scion with black rims.

One of the people at the scene was treated for a small cut to the left foot by first aid workers. The rest were reportedly unharmed.

Police recovered an 18-pack of beer containing 15 bottles in the room that the group was staying in at the inn. The victims of the assault, all of whom were underage, reportedly told police that they did not own the alcohol.
