Joseph Balzamo
Mr. Balzamo, 67, of Sayreville, died April 24, 2007, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Henrietta D'Alo Balzamo; a daughter, Michele Smith of Larkspur, Colo.; two sons, Joseph Balzamo Jr. of Morristown and Vincent Balzamo of Sayreville; a sister, Enza Casano of Barnegat; two brothers, Peter Balzamo of Waldwick and Mario Balzamo of South River; and six grandchildren. Visitation will take place April 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Members of Sayreville Knights of Columbus Council 2061 will hold services at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held April 27 at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Iselin section of Woodbridge.
Maria M. Sideris
Mrs. Sideris, 87, of Manalapan, died April 12, 2007, at home. She was born in Italy and had lived in Toms River for 15 years before moving to Manalapan seven years ago. Prior to retiring, she was an assembly worker for Glasseal Products Inc., Linden. Mrs. Sideris was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, as well as a son, Antonio. Surviving are three sons, Salvatore Nistico of Elizabeth, Cosimo Nistico of Scotch Plains and Damiano Nistico of Old Bridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosanna and Phil Morris of Manalapan; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Central Jersey, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701-9978.
Carmela Nuzzolo Turchiano
Mrs. Turchiano, 84, of Toms River, and formerly the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge, died April 9, 2007, at Rose Garden Nursing Home, Toms River. She was predeceased by her husband, John Turchiano in 1968. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Louise Kmetz of Toms River, Jacqueline Koempel of Little Egg Harbor, and Judy Adlin of Toms River; a son, Vito Turchiano of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Santa Canicatti Restivo
Mrs. Restivo, 79, of Sayreville, died April 12, 2007, at Victoria House, Matawan. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. She was predeceased by her husband, James in 1990; and a sister, Concetta Canicatti in 2005. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Theresa and William Tumbleson, and Grace Restivo, all of Sayreville, and Patricia and Thomas Specce of South Amboy; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Maryellen Restivo of Sayreville; a sister, Clara Muldoon; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a niece; and a nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victories Church. Entombment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were under the direction of Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Irene R. Murawski
Mrs. Murawski, 73, of Old Bridge, died April 15, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She is survived by her husband, Alex W. Murawski; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alex E. and Lynn Murawski of Hamilton, and Kevin W. and Nancy Murawski of Kunkletown, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Carlo Pena of Whitehouse Station; two sisters, Virginia Singleman of Hamden, Conn., and Maureen Gollob of Glendale, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Interment was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Arrangements were by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
Marion McColl
Mrs. McColl, 66, of Old Bridge, died April 12, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She is survived by three sons, William McColl Jr. of Crestwood, Ky., Andrew McColl of Parlin, and Leslie McColl of Center Valley, Pa.; a brother, Joseph Buroyne of Scotland; a sister-in-law, Nessie Isgate of Venice, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Necci, 86, of Old Bridge, died April 9, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose Onorio Necci; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Fran of Old Bridge, and Raymond and Mary of Connecticut; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Frank Iacone of Sewell, and Marie and Steve Manna of Rochester, N.Y.; nine grandchildren;and five great-grandchildren. a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge. Interment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
Rita Elizabeth Creamer Vona
Mrs. Vona, 90, of Sayreville, died April 19, 2007, at home. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and John Creamer; and two sisters, Geraldine and Shirley Creamer. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Stephen J. Vona; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Robert McCrone of Middlesex; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen T. and Jacqueline Vona of Sayreville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. Burial was at New Calvary Cemetery, Sayreville. Arrangements were by Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville.
Jean H. Makowka Poduska
Mrs. Poduska, 92, of Old Bridge, died April 12, 2007, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Poduska in 1952; and a son, Robert Poduska in 2003. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Hart of Old Bridge; a sister, Sophie Rodney of Morganville; two brothers, John and Benjamin Makowka, both Old Bridge; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Arrangements were by Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin.
Robert C. Arthur
Mr. Arthur, 78, of Old Bridge, died April 13, 2007, at Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. He was a member of South Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, and former president of Sayre Woods South Firehouse. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis T. Arthur. He is survived by a daughter, Ellen of Shelby, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Kathy of Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandsons. A memorial celebration will be at Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, Old Bridge, at a later date. Arrangements were by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
Pearl V. Doody
Mrs. Doody, 87, of Hazlet, died April 17, 2007, at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Doody in 1987; a sister, Dorothy Bungay; and a brother, William Gesner. She is survived by a son, Charles Doody Jr. of Bradley Beach; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Stephen Kowal of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge; three sisters, Vivian Tortora and Jeanne Gesner, both of Staten Island, N.Y., and Gloria Gray of Vernon Center, N.Y.; a brother, Leroy Gesner of Port Richey, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
