Kidsworks will stage 'Rapunzel, Frog Prince'

The Sayreville Main Street Theatre Company will present its Kidsworks production of "Rapunzel and the Frog Prince" at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on May 12 and 19 and 2 p.m. on May 20 at the Main Street Theatre in Garden Friends Early Learning Center, 3018 Bordentown Ave., Parlin section of Sayreville.

The play, written by Michele L. Vacca, is being produced by special arrangement with Chicago on Stage.

General-admission tickets cost $6 at the door.

Upcoming Kidworks Productions will include "Beauty and the Beast" on July 7, 8 and 14, and "Sleeping Beauty" on Sept. 8, 9 and 15.

Open House slated

for May 20 at OLL

Congregation Beth Ohr to offer tour of Israel

Villagers' 'Hospitality Suite' to open May 11

The Black Box Series at nonprofit Villagers Theatre, 415 Demott Lane, Somerset, will present "Hospitality Suite" May 11-26. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with a matinee May 20 at 2 p.m.

The drama is produced by Jessica Pfeiffer, Old Bridge, and the stage manager is Francine Mondi, North Brunswick. The drama concerns two salesmen and a youngster from the research department gathered at a hotel's hospitality suite to host a delegates' party in order to reel in one big fish. There are conflicting notions of salesmanship, honesty, religion and love.

Orchestra of St. Peter

by Sea in concert June 8

Church of the Sacred Heart, 56 Throop Ave., New Brunswick, will begin the celebration of its 125th anniversary year with a kick-off concert featuring the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea conducted by the Rev. Hall of Fame awards

banquet set for May 5

The Sayreville War Memorial High School Hall of Fame will hold its third annual awards banquet May 5 at the VFW hall on Jernee Mill Road. The alumni being honored this year are Dr. Patricia O'Connor Dreyfuss an obstetrician/gynecologist from the class of 1970; Greg Evigan, an actor and musician from the class of 1971; Jeffrey Osowski, a 1965 graduate who became a state education official; and Carmen F. Spezzi, a local funeral director and community volunteer from the class of 1969.

Free event at Zimmerli Art Museum May 6

Zimmerli Art Museum, 71 Hamilton St., New Brunswick, will present a family event May 6 from 12:30-4:30 p.m.

The free event will feature caricatures, scavenger hunts of the museum's collections with prizes, a children's craft workshop, face painters and gallery tours. There will also be a performance by The Divine in Motion: The Dancers of Isadora Duncan, "Uncle John's Traveling Musical Puppet Show," and storytelling with Ellen Musikant of the New Jersey Storytelling Network. Golfers sought for

Fathers Club outing

The Immaculate Conception Fathers Club, Spotswood, will hold its annual golf outing on May 7 at Peddie School Golf Course, Hightstown. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Start time is set for 9 a.m.

Cost is $150 per golfer and includes greens fee, motor cart, golf, continental breakfast, barbecue luncheon and beverages. A car will be awarded for a hole in one.

Golfers of all abilities are welcome. Proceeds from the event will benefit Immaculate Conception School's technology initiatives.

The Sayreville Recreation Department will hold its annual Fishing Derby beginning at 9 a.m. on May 19 at Kennedy Park, Washington Road.

Townwide yard sale

scheduled for May 19

Jamesburg residents will sell their "treasures" during the annual Jamesburg Spring Townwide Yard Sale scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 19. The event, which will take place rain or shine, is sponsored by the borough of Jamesburg and the Jamesburg Civic Association.

Residents may sell in their own yards or rent table space at Buckelew Park. Nonresidents also may rent space in the park. Rental cost is $10 per table. Proceeds will benefit the Jamesburg Historical Association.

Registered home addresses will be listed on a yard-sale flier/map that will be available on line at www.jamesburg.info and www.jamesburghistory.com beginning May 17. Printed copies of the list also will be distributed to Jamesburg businesses.

Registration forms are available at Jamesburg Borough Hall, from various Jamesburg merchants, and at www.jamesburg.info or www.jamesburghistory.com. Forms must be received by 5 p.m. on May 15 to ensure a listing on the map. Forms for Buckelew Park rental space must be received by 5 p.m. on May 18.

Suburban Artist Guild

slates May 11 meeting

The Suburban Artist Guild will hold its next meeting May 11 at 2 p.m. at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center. Board members will meet at 1 p.m.

Guest will be Dolores Ziegler, a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS). Ziegler's art was chosen for the AWS traveling show in 2005, and her work has been published in Artist magazine. She will present a "watermedia" demonstration at the meeting.

Guild members are offering an exhibit of multimedia artwork through May 25 at the Marketplace Barnes and Noble, Route 130 north, Hamilton. A second exhibit of approximately 50 paintings will be displayed through May 30 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, 675 Hoes Lane, Piscataway.

Villagers announces auditions for 'Tape'

The Black Box at Villagers Theatre will hold auditions for "Tape," a drama by Stephen Belber, May 14 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin Township Municipal Complex, 415 Demott Lane, Somerset. Two men and one woman, age 20-35, are needed.

Cheesequake Park slates variety of programs

Cheesequake State Park, Old Bridge, will hold a one-hour hike titled "Mysterious Migration" for children ages 8 and older May 6 at 1 p.m. "Birding Basics" for ages 14 and older will be held May 13 at 1 p.m. A wildflower walk will take place May 20 at 1 p.m. and feature information about the park's wildflowers. An osprey walk and talk for children ages 8 and older will be held May 27 at 1 p.m. The walk will begin at the Spring Hill parking lot. The fee will be the park entrance fee.

All of the activities will begin at the park's interpretive center.

Participants sought for St. Jude Walkathon

Vogue Hair and Nail Studio, Route 9, Old Bridge, will sponsor a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Walkathon 1-4 p.m. on May 20. The walk will begin at St. Ambrose Church, Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge, and continue to Thomas, to Cindy, to Utica, to Gaub, to Alpha, to Bushnell, to Throckmorton and back to St. Ambrose.

The walk will take two to three hours to complete. Organizers are attempting to set up concession stands along the route, with local merchants donating water, power bars, fruit, etc., for the walkers. The Old Bridge Police Department will provide two police units to oversee the event.

Proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. The hospital, founded by entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962, is internationally recognized for its work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses.
