Remains found of woman, 24

SAYREVILLE - The skeletal remains of a 24-year-old Perth Amboy woman who was missing since Sept. 29 were found on borough land near the Raritan River Saturday.

Police did not have a cause of death for the woman, identified as Ziomara Rivera. However, an autopsy conducted Sunday showed no signs of foul play, and the death was ruled to be a suicide.

The body was found at 1:58 p.m. Saturday outside the Middlesex County Utility Authority (MCUA) facility, which is located off the Main Street Extension. Two MCUA employees were walking near the shoreline of the Raritan River on the former National Lead site when they discovered the remains.

Reports indicate that Perth Amboy police had searched the Raritan River last fall after learning that the woman may have jumped from the Victory Bridge. The woman's purse was reportedly found on the bridge around the time she went missing.
