Family health fair set in New Brunswick

Just for the Health of It, a New Brunswick community health fair for the entire family, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 19 in Buccleuch Park, Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, across from Saint Peter's University Hospital, 254 Easton Ave. Rain date is May 20.

Activities will include air-filled rides, a 3K Fun Run/Walk beginning at 10 a.m., a 100-yard dash for children beginning at 11 a.m., softball and baseball, tennis clinics by the U.S. Tennis Association, a karate demonstration, a cricket match, a weight-lifting demonstration provided by L.A. Fitness and Workout World, a bocce exhibition and clinic at the New Brunswick Senior Center, massages by Mobile Massage Spa and health and fitness exhibits and screenings.

Several bands, including Orquesta Rumba con Son (formerly known as the Rutgers Salsa Band), the Social Funk Experiment and the Screaming Females will take to the stage on the great lawn. Sparkee, the Somerset Patriots mascot, also will make an appearance. A farmers market and healthy foods will be provided by the George Street Co-op. Water will be provided by Poland Spring. Guests may bring their own picnic lunch.

The fair is hosted by Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick Recreation and the George Street Co-op.
