Greek Festival on tap at St. George's Church

St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway, will hold its 34th annual Greek Festival from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on May 18, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on May 19 and noon to 8 p.m. on May 20.

The event will feature Greek food, live music by the Golden Greeks Orchestra, traditional Greek folk dancing by the church's four dance groups, church tours and cultural information. New this year will be a Taverna Night on May 19, featuring music, an outdoor bar, souvlaki and gyro stands open until 1 a.m. There will be a $7 admission charge beginning at 10 p.m. on Taverna Night.

Donation is $2 per person ($7 from 10 p.m. on May 19). Children under age 12 will be admitted free of charge. Proceeds from the festival will assist the church in its cultural and community programming.

Free parking and shuttle service will be available at the church and at Rutgers Stadium, Piscataway.

Advance orders for takeout food may be e-mailed to Festival2007@patmedia.net. Contact name and telephone number should be included in the e-mail.

Food may be picked up approximately 20 minutes after the order is placed.
