Convicted sex offender considered a 'high risk' Sayreville resident accused of tampering with monitoring device BY MICHAEL ACKER Staff Writer
SAYREVILLE - A convicted sex offender who resided in the borough went missing last week after reportedly tampering with his monitoring device.
Authorities are searching for Morgan L. DeGeorge, a 28-year-old white male whose last known address was on Kierst Street in the Parlin section.
In 1999, DeGeorge, who was born in New Jersey, exposed himself to three female juveniles who were walking to school in Woodbridge, according to Assistant Middlesex County Prosecutor Lynn Pilone. All three children were under the age of 13. DeGeorge was found to be a repetitive and compulsive offender, and after being convicted of endangering the welfare of a child in April 2000, was sentenced to five years at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel. He was released from prison in 2003.
DeGeorge, who later relocated to Parlin, was subject to community supervision for life and was required to wear a global positioning monitoring device as part of his parole.
He reportedly tampered with the device on May 21 and has since been missing.
DeGeorge will be charged with failure to comply with monitoring requirements and tampering with the monitoring device, Pilone said.
On Tuesday, CBS News reported that it spoke with DeGeorge and members of his family in Holmdel. DeGeorge refused to tell the television network his current location, and said that he is no threat to anyone.
Pilone said DeGeorge is now considered a fugitive, and if apprehended will be held on $150,000 bail.
"He is a high risk," Pilone said. "He is a wanted person right now, as opposed to [this being] notification of a sex offender. He committed a crime."
DeGeorge has brown hair and eyes. He reportedly weighs 185 pounds and is 5 feet 8 inches tall with a scar over his left eyebrow and a scar on his left knee. Anyone with information on DeGeorge's whereabouts is asked to call the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at (732) 745-3465.
