Town saved baseball season from sinking

I would personally like to thank the Old Bridge Township for stepping up and helping to save our season at the Sayrewoods South Little League.

Following the nor'easter in April, we had excessive water damage to all four baseball fields. Two fields were totally submerged under 2 feet of water. The fields were completely covered in mud, and the fences were washed away. Even the clubhouse had a foot and a half of water inside.

We made a call to Ward 5 Township Councilman Richard Greene, who came down to witness the destroyed fields firsthand. Rich put us in touch with Tom Babcock from the Parks and Recreation Department, who also came down to see our flooded complex. He sent his lead man, Pete Kemprowski, to help. These men, as well as others from the parks and recreation and road departments, came down to pitch in. I would like to thank each and every one of them for going the extra mile for the township youngsters who play ball here. I would also like to thank the current council and mayor for their support.

It was great to see our local government and leadership departments all working together for a job well-done.
