Obituaries Irma M. McDonald Mrs. McDonald, 87, of Hazlet, died June 1, 2007, at Regency Park Nursing Center, Hazlet. Born in Wisconsin, she resided in Madison, Wis., and Red Bank, prior to relocating to Hazlet four years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, James in 1973. She is survived by a son, Larry of Old Bridge; and three grandchildren. Interment was at Highland Memorial Gardens, Madison, Wis. Arrangements were by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
Michael R. "Mike" Tarkany Mr. Tarkany, 58, of Spotswood, died May 30, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, he resided in Spotswood most of his life. He was a carpenter and member of Carpenters Union Local 1006, Milltown, for 38 years, retiring earlier this year. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Spotswood. He was a member of the Island Beach State Park Beach Buggy Club. Mr. Tarkany was predeceased by his father, Michael Tarkany, in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judith McAteer Tarkany; his mother, Frances Tarkany of Spotswood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Caralyn and Michael Krail of North Brunswick, and Megan and Robert Kelliher of Belmar; a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Carol Tarkany of Old Bridge; and a granddaughter. A funeral service was held at St. Peter's Church. Arrangements were by The Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Ruth (Stolzenberg) DeLuca Mrs. DeLuca, 72, of Freehold, died May 30, 2007, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Born in Germany, she came to the United States in 1942, settling in Queens, N.Y, before moving to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she lived for 50 years. She moved to Freehold in 1997. Prior to retiring in 2000, Mrs. DeLuca was head bookkeeper for Waldbaum's, Brooklyn, for 30 years. Mrs. DeLuca was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1997. Surviving are a son, Michael DeLuca of Los Angeles; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and William Mendez of Old Bridge; a brother, George Stolzenberg of Germany; a sister, Dora Hilluck of Freehold; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of New Jersey, 135 W. Josephine C. Pellicane Betzler Mrs. Betzler, 86, of Milltown, died May 30, 2007, at Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, she resided in Milltown for more than 60 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Milltown. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Milltown Fire Department, Milltown Seniors Citizens, and Milltown Auxiliary of the Hi 12 Club. Mrs. Betzler was predeceased by her husband, Charles G. Betzler, in 1997; two brothers, Joseph and Paul Pellicane; and a sister, Lena Mazza. She is survived by a son, Charles G. Betzler Jr. of Verona; a daughter, Charlotte Oskin of Montgomery Township; a brother, Frank Pellicane of North Brunswick; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, followed by interment at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.
Donald D. Tanner Mr. Tanner, 66, of Englishtown, died May 29, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, after a long illness. Born and raised in Englishtown, he had lived in Newark for more than 25 years before entering Pine Brook Care Center, Manalapan, in June 2004. He worked in construction. Mr. Tanner was predeceased by a brother, Herbert R. Tanner; two sisters, Arline D. Tanner and Gail M. Tanner-Copeland; and his longtime companion, Grace Pittman. Surviving are two brothers, Charles C. Tanner Jr. of Lakewood and Bobby J. Tanner of Monroe; four sisters, Shirley J. Johnson and Patricia D. Simms, both of Freehold, Sondra P. Little of Asbury Park and Jerri D. Tanner of Trenton; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
Barbara O'Donnell Mrs. O'Donnell, 72, of Freehold Township, died May 27, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in South River and had resided in Freehold Township since 1954. Prior to retiring 20 years ago, she was a receptionist for AT&T Bell Laboratories, Freehold. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, and a member of the church choir. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose of Lima No. 737, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mrs. O'Donnell was predeceased by a son, Matthew, in 1990, as well as two brothers, Leo and Matthew Cannon. Surviving are her husband, William F. O'Donnell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Clark of Rumson, Colleen and Michael Gagliano of Toms River, and Kathleen and George Bente of Upper Saddle River; two brothers, Brian Cannon of South River and James Cannon of South Amboy; two sisters, Margaret Hall of Millstone and Mary Jane Kohlhepp of South River; and four grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was offered at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Lillian Kelly Dorrian Mrs. Dorrian, 83, of East Brunswick, died May 17, 2007, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are two sons, John Dorrian, and his wife, Diane, of Estero, Fla., and Kevin Dorrian, and his wife, Joan, of North Brunswick; a daughter, Colleen Larrison, and her husband, Michael, of South Amboy; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, North Brunswick.
