The Garden State U-12 Knights won the Shore Shoot-Out Basketball Championship, going 4-0 this past weekend. Due to injuries, the Knights were forced to play with a limited number of players but rose to the occasion. In game one against the Baltimore Hawks, Patrick Tumulty's 15 points and Justin Torrisi's six assists led the Knights to a 57-46 victory. Game two against the Staten Island Stingers saw the Knights leading by seven points at halftime, only to open up the game in the second half and win by a 62-33 margin. Dwayne Trawick and Dylan Hroncich each scored 11 points and Aiden Albrecht chipped in six points and seven rebounds. Day two saw the Knights seeded first and scheduled to play the Hunterdon United. It was a lopsided game and the Knights prevailed 67-24. This game also saw the return of Stephen Meigh from a knee injury and Billy Andrews being sidelined with an injured shoulder. Patrick Tumulty, Dwayne Trawick and Stephen Meigh led the Knights with 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively. John Matajy chipped in with nine rebounds and Jonathan Kuryla played a strong floor game. The Knights were pitted in the championship game in a rematch against the Baltimore Hawks. Led by the strong backcourt play of Justin Torrisi, Stephen Meigh and Jonathan Kuryla, the Knights opened up a quick 10-point lead and never looked back. The Knights also welcomed a breakout game by Eddie Romanik, who scored 19 points, (5-for-8 from three-point land) as the Knights won convincingly, 71-53.
