Old Bridge High School

Valedictorian: Eric Chan

SAT score: 2330

GPA: 5.48

College plans: Brown University.

Intended major:

Neuroscience, with a minor in French.

Academic success strategy:

My success strategy has been to pay attention in class and to try to connect the lectures to information presented in the textbooks. This way, whenever there were tests, I could just review the material and not have to understand it for the first time.

Favorite or most influential teacher:

My favorite teacher has been Madame Vreeland. She was very enthusiastic about teaching the material and that made me even more encouraged to learn during class.

Awards:

Who's Who Among American High School Students, National Society of High School Scholars, Caring Award of Middlesex County Guidance Council, Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship.

Affiliations, or extracurricular

involvement:

Marching band, Interact, FBLA, French Honor Society, National Honor Society, tennis.

Favorite after-school hangout:

The movie theater.

Best high school memory:

My favorite high school memory was on the senior trip to Walt Disney World. I was watching the "Fantasmic" show with a group of Old Bridge students on my birthday, and they started singing happy birthday, and the crowd of people around them joined in as well.

Valedictorian: Eric Chan

Biggest challenge:

The biggest challenge has been juggling marching band and other extracurricular activities while maintaining good grades in all my A.P. classes.

Senior year soundtrack:

"The Great Escape" by Boys Like Girls

Most likely to ...:

Travel around the world.

Advice to freshmen:

My advice is to join many clubs and activities in order to be involved with school as much as possible. Also, meet as many new people as you can and study and work hard.

Salutatorian:

Mikhail Podlog

SAT score:

Math 800, verbal 680, writing 710, for a total

of 2190

or 1480

(old style).

GPA:

5.267

College plans:

Rutgers University (College of Arts and Sciences)

Intended major:

Biology

Academic success strategy:

Learn to manage time wisely.

Favorite or most influential teacher:

Mr. Kinsey, who made a difficult chemistry class into the most fun class I took in high school.
