Greene would fight taxes, development

I am writing in support of Councilman Richard Greene in his bid to become the next mayor of Old Bridge. I believe that Councilman Greene is the most qualified person to lead the township in the direction that would most benefit the residents of Old Bridge.

While on the Township Council, Mr. Greene has continually supported the development of recreational facilities for township residents. He also has supported the purchase of hundreds of acres of land to be preserved as open space, and he fought against developers.

This is in sharp contrast to Mayor Jim Phillips, who promised to control development. However, once Mayor Phillips was elected, he supported a plan to sell 500 acres of township property to developers to build 800 new houses. Mayor Phillips says that his plan would provide tax relief. I believe that his plan would destroy the southern portion of Old Bridge and create more traffic congestion.

We need a mayor who will lead us in stabilizing taxes and controlling overdevelopment. Councilman Greene's leadership is needed as we move forward, and I feel that the township would benefit from his hard work, vast financial background and leadership ability.
