Red Knights ride to aid children's hospital event

The Red Knights Motorcycle Club, New Jersey-Chapter 10, Spotswood, will hold its second annual Ride for the Children Poker Run on Aug. 4 beginning with registration from 8-10 a.m. at the Center 18 Plaza/Burger King parking lot, Route 18 north, (just south of Rues Lane, across from the Seville Diner), East Brunswick. Rain date is Aug. 5.

All riders will participate in a 60-mile scenic ride with checkpoints at neighboring fire companies.

Cost of the run is $20 per biker, $10 per passenger. Entry fees include coffee and doughnuts at registration, food and beverages at the end of the ride and prizes for best hands.

All proceeds will benefit the Red Knights' annual Christmas in July event held at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Individuals who are unable to attend the run but would like to make a monetary contribution may send a check (noting a donation for Christmas in July) to the Red Knights Motorcycle Club, New Jersey-Chapter 10, P.O. Box 142, Spotswood, NJ 08884. In addition to financial contributions, the Knights also accept donations of new toys for children ages 2-18. The Red Knights is made up of local firefighters who enjoy motorcycling and sponsor educational, charitable and social activities that promote community awareness of motorcycle safety and sportsmanship. Membership is open to all firefighters, active or retired, who have access to a motorcycle and hold a current, valid motorcycle license. Young people invited

to try out for 'Aladdin'

Auditions for the upcoming Villagers Theatre Kidsvill production of "Disney's Aladdin, Junior" are planned for 7 p.m. on July 23 and 24 at the Villagers Theatre, 415 DeMott Lane, Somerset section of Franklin.

Only performers ages 8-18 will be cast. Participants, who should be familiar with the Disney film, are asked to prepare 16 bars of an upbeat song. An accompanist will be provided. There will be readings from the script. Youngsters may be asked to execute a simple dance. Producers are seeking 18-22 performers to fill many roles. The play will be directed by Matt DiCarlo and produced by Tina Lee. Music director is Howard Whitmore. Choreographer is Jillian Kimberlin.
