Supports new commuting options in Old Bridge

In this age when there are more problems than solutions offered, I was greatly impressed by the reasonableness of Margaret M. Jelcich's ideas on how to solve Old Bridge's increasing commuter problems ("Residents Lack Convenient, Safe Commuter Parking," Suburban, Aug. 9). As a senior citizen living by Route 9 but still having some difficulty walking to a New York bus route, I could see that if implemented, all her suggestions would help me and other retired residents use and enjoy the same public transportation system as working commuters without the prevailing access barriers.

A shuttle service to the Matawan and South Amboy train stations is the solution I favor most. There is no longer a time when most travelers can be dropped off and picked up later at the station by home-based family members. A public shuttle to train service, along Routes 9 and 516, is the way to go - but is anyone interested in starting a private, low-cost shuttle until a public one develops?
