Jerome "Jerry" J. Torbik
Mr. Torbik, 74, of Old Bridge, died Aug. 25, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. A tool-and-die maker with New Jersey Tool & Die Co., Kenilworth, he also worked for Lincoln Mold Co., Roselle, for more than 10 years before retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus, Old Bridge. He was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Torbik; a son, Andrew J. Torbik, and his wife, Nicola, of Freehold; a daughter, Jennifer A. Chan, and her husband, Max, of Howell; three brothers, Andrew Torbik of Pennsylvania, George Torbik of Rahway and Donald Torbik of Linden; two sisters, Regina Lewczak of Elizabeth and Janice Montgomery of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Lynsey, Carrie, Sara and Nathaniel. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Arrangements were under the direction of Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge.
Andrew Charles Duerr Jr.
Mr. Duerr, 47, of Lake Wales, Fla., formerly of Sayreville, died Aug. 16, 2007, at home. His mother, Barbara Duerr, died in 2001. Surviving are his wife Donna Duerr; nine children, Andrew Duerr III, Ricki Duerr, Raquel Bradberry, Candace Ray, Cherokee Parish, Brittnee Duerr, Jasmine Parish, Nicholas Duerr and Kelly Duerr; his father, Andrew Duerr Sr.; two sisters, Sally Duerr and Wendy Jadszak; and a grandson. Memorial services are planned for 6 p.m. on Sept. 2 at High Point Church of God, Lake Wales, with the Rev. Jack Hilligoss officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Duerr's family and sent to 202 Caloosa Lake Circle South, Lake Wales, FL33859. Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Wales.
Salvatore A. Adelfio
Mr. Adelfio, 82, of Marlboro, formerly of Old Bridge and South River, died July 22, 2007, in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Surviving are his wife, Anita; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Steve and Pat Adelfio and Joe and Karen Adelfio, all of Old Bridge, and Sal Adelfio and Mike and Ona Adelfio, all of Freehold; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Robb McQuade of Holmdel and Mary and Joe Rizzo of Howell; two brothers, Andy Adelfio of South Carolina and Joseph Adelfio of Florida; a sister, Theresa Correale of Manalapan; and 12 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro. James Russell Forsythe
Mr. Forsythe, 65, of Old Bridge, died Aug. 22, 2007, in Parker Home, New Brunswick. He was a vice principal and teacher in Edison for 33 years. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Kisko Forsythe; two daughters, Lisa Kazunas, and her husband, Stephen, of Medford and Barbara Ellen Forsythe of Old Bridge; a brother, Charles Forsythe of Whippany; two sisters, Kathleen Monchek of Piscataway and Alice Vacula of Kenilworth; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Private services were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. A memorial Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Anthony Luschinski
Mr. Luschinski, 86, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 21, 2007, at home. His first wife, Olga Molnar Luschinski, died in 1964, and his second wife, Tokie Yoshioka Luschinski, died in 2006. Surviving are a son, Anthony Luschinski Jr., and his wife, Maryanne, of Easton, Md.; a sister, Helen Buttcher of Old Bridge; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Cooper of Redlands, Calif.; two stepsons, Duane Miyagishima of New York City and Glenn Miyagishima of Walnut, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
Antonio Giassi
Mr. Giassi, 86, of Monroe, formerly of Aberdeen, died Aug. 4, 2007, in the Elms at Cranbury. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed by the borough of Matawan Road Department, where he worked for 10 years. Before that he was a self-employed carpenter for many years. His first wife, Alma Damiani Giassi, died in 1979, and a daughter, Gabriella Giassi Landrum, died in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Linda Corsi Giassi; a daughter, Bruna Devino of Union Beach; a stepson, John Zangrando of East Brunswick; a sister, Marucci Tamburlini of Trieste, Italy; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Clement's Church, Matawan. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport.
John V. Hanson
Mr. Hanson, 95, of South Amboy, died Aug. 23, 2007, in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Prior to his retirement in 1974, he was employed as a computer programmer in the data-processing department at Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 37 years. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Leon Florek. Surviving are his wife, Agatha Keith Hanson; three children, Patricia Florek of East Brunswick, Joan Turner, and her husband, Gary, of Hazlet, and Richard Hanson, and his wife, Gloria, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy, Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Reformed Church Home, 1990 Route 18, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
Laura Dabkowski Kulesa
Mrs. Kulesa, 95, of Sayreville, died Aug. 20, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress with Berman Sportswear, South River, where she worked for more than 30 years. Her husband, John, died in 1968. Surviving are her children and their spouses, John and Karen Kulesa of Palm Bay, Fla., and Bernard and Rose Marie Kulesa, Florence Syslo, Lorraine and Clem Wolanin and Rita Ciecko, all of Sayreville; a sister, Helen Golaszewski of Bound Brook; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville.
James J. Collender Jr.
Mr. Collender, 52, of Old Bridge, died Aug. 3, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. He was a former member of the Old Bridge Planning Board. He was predeceased by his mother, Jeanette Newcomb Collender; his father, James J. Collender Jr.; a niece, Kathleen Nigro; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Ebinger. Surviving are three sisters, Joan Collender of Monroe, Maureen Walmsley, and her husband, Lester, of Hightstown and Laraine Ebinger of Conroe, Texas; two nephews; three nieces; three greatnieces; eight great-nephews; a greatgreat nephew; and his friends, Theresa and Tom Hart. A Mass was offered at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Old Bridge. Interment was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy C. Fund, P.O. Box 317, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
Linda J. Conine Scefcyk
Mrs. Scefcyk, 59, of Spotswood, formerly of East Brunswick, died Aug. 20, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was a registered nurse for more than 30 years at Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are two daughters and a son, Lin Lowenfels, and her husband, David, of Edison, Kara Scefcyk of Spotswood and John Longo, and his wife, Lisa, of South Amboy; two brothers, James and Kevin Conine of New York; a granddaughter, Fiona Lowenfels; her former husband, John Longo; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew's Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
