Suburban Artists slates meeting, seeks members The Suburban Artist Guild of Central New Jersey (SAG) will hold open registration at its first regular meeting of the 2007-08 year set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center. Returning SAG members are encouraged to bring their membership dues to the first meeting, and new members will have an opportunity to enroll. The meeting will include a light luncheon and an oil-painting demonstration by Joe Gyurcsak, who will paint from a live model. Gyurcsak's work has been featured in American Artist Magazine and shown in galleries on the East Coast and in San Francisco. Future SAG meetings will feature demonstrations by professionals using varied media, including oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, etc. Members attend mini-workshops and hands-on sessions, paint from live models, attend plein-air painting sessions when weather permits and receive critiques of their paintings. Exhibits are held at various sites throughout the year, and SAG exhibit planners continue to seek new sites to showcase members' artwork. Individuals at all levels of painting and expertise are welcome. With the exception of the September meeting, SAG meets at 2 p.m. on the second Friday of every month. Meetings are not held in July and August. Interested artists may obtain more information by calling Allie Skislak at (732) 257- 0031. |
