KMM to offer traffic alerts via text message

Commuters will soon be able to receive road emergency notices on their cell phones, Keep Middlesex Moving announced last week.

KMM plans to introduce the Emergency Traffic Network (ETN) text messaging system this fall. Commuters can sign up now for major incident alerts regarding any or all of the following corridors in Middlesex County: routes 1, 9, 18 and 287, the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

The ETN program was originally launched 10 years ago as a fax only program, and was eventually offered via email.

Commuters can register online at www.kmm.org and begin receiving major traffic alerts. For more information, call (732) 745-4318.
